Relaxed, easy dining is offered here at The Horseshoe Inns Bistro, a low key alternative to the sumptuous Bardoulets Restaurant, which has made The Horseshoe famous on the Scottish dining scene. Cosy and rustic, the Bistro is centered around a wood paneled main bar with small round tables edged by linen covered chairs, dark wood original beams overhead and a wood fired stove throwing out warmth just perfect for those cold Scottish winters. A regularly changing menu allows acclaimed chef Patrick Bardoulet to tackle favourite classics from throughout Europe but with his trademark creative twist, using excellent seasonal ingredients from the many excellent producers Scotland has to offer. A childrens menu is available throughout the day, with equally carefully created dishes introducing small gastronomes to the world of good food. Meanwhile, the bar stocks an array of excellent ales well suited to the casual dining approach offered by The Horseshoe Inn Bistro.

4 of us for lunch on 23rd January 2016 and I have to say it was difficult to fault. Very attentive service and great advice to match wines with the food. The meal was excellent, beautifully prepared and served with flavours that were a delight to savour. What more can I say

Went there for a Friday lunch as a belated wedding anniversary meal. The attention to detail and personal touches were immaculate. I had told them in advance that I was lactose intolerant and my own personal menu was adjusted accordingly. The gentleman who looked after us from arrival to departure was very helpful and in particular had excellent knowledge of... More

Excellent way to bring in the new year, fantastic food and wine and nice friendly staff. Couldn't fault it in any way. It is also a great venue for Sunday lunch.

We dined here last Saturday evening, started off with drinks in the very comfortable lounge where we were served delicious hors d'oeuvres, beautifully presented, the waiter explained what each dainty little dish was. Then to the restaurant which was very tastefully decorated for Christmas, the tables looked lovely - beautiful glasses and cutlery. The attention to detail of all the... More

Anything I put here will not do justice to the food which was outstanding or the service which was impeccable. The whole experience was unforgettable for all the right reasons and I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough (Tripadvisor you need a sixth level of rating for places like this). In addition to the dishes on the menu there were... More

Ate lunch here recently and the service was excellent with great attention to detail and the cooking was way above average. 2 courses for £20 or 3 for £25 with an on the day menu for £16 makes it very cost effective fine dining. Apparently the head chef came from a Michelin starred restaurant and it shows in the imaginative... More

We wanted a nice night away with some good food, and we weren't disappointed. Our room was in the annex behind the restaurant (an old school). We went over to the restaurant to sit in the lounge to decide what we wanted to eat that evening over a lovely G&T, they provide a suggested pre dinner drink list, which included... More

We visited this Horseshoe last year to celebrate my eldest daughters 21st and returned again at the weekend for my youngest daughters 21st. The party was for eight and was made up of three different generations. A menu had been specially prepared for us and we were in the private dining area. The meal was truly special with some delicious... More

This is definitely a place for Michelin to visit! I was flabbergasted by the food so intense flavored. Lots of organic ingredients and very nicely served. The staff is extremely well trained and makes the evening complete. This is the place when willing to drive an half hour from Edinburgh
