Relaxed, easy dining is offered here at The Horseshoe Inns Bistro, a low key alternative to the sumptuous Bardoulets Restaurant, which has made The Horseshoe famous on the Scottish dining scene. Cosy and rustic, the Bistro is centered around a wood paneled main bar with small round tables edged by linen covered chairs, dark wood original beams overhead and a wood fired stove throwing out warmth just perfect for those cold Scottish winters. A regularly changing menu allows acclaimed chef Patrick Bardoulet to tackle favourite classics from throughout Europe but with his trademark creative twist, using excellent seasonal ingredients from the many excellent producers Scotland has to offer. A childrens menu is available throughout the day, with equally carefully created dishes introducing small gastronomes to the world of good food. Meanwhile, the bar stocks an array of excellent ales well suited to the casual dining approach offered by The Horseshoe Inn Bistro.

Wonderful atmosphere and dinner

We stayed overnight on a dinner bed and breakfast basis and this was an absolute treat. The team are very friendly, relaxed and always on hand. We liked that the restaurant was not overly formal whilst the food produced by Alistair Craig in the kitchen and his team was brilliant. Whilst the wine list could require a few hours study... More

One of the delights about lunchtime dining in a quality restaurant , is that usually , the set price fare either for a two or three course menu, showcases the best the chef has to offer including the service and ambiance . Such it is with The Horseshoe, not our first visit but a repeat visit which indicated to us... More

We were on our way back to Edinburgh fairly late in the evening and saw the restaurant sign on the main road so decided to go in on the off chance to get a late dinner. We were so glad we did. The food and service was exceptional. Yes it's a bit pricey but worth it for a special meal.... More

I reserved a table at The Horseshoe Inn to celebrate my birthday. I did this by phone and even from this early stage of reservation it felt special. The night started in the lounge area where you are presented with a menu of aperitifs to choose from and the staff member was very knowledgeable about all the offerings. At this... More

We had a wonderful meal, not cheap but excellent quality, with very professional and friendly service, even to the extent that they collected us from our hotel and took us back at the end of the night. We will certainly dine at the Horseshoe Inn again.

Arrived here en route to Stobo Castle. The Inn itself if full of character and very well looked after. The staff were excellent and couldn't be more helpful.. We had variations of the set Sunday lunch menu which was delicious with an amuse bouche to begin so really fine dining in a traditional style but not fine dining prices! When... More

My partner and I dined here Sat 6th June. We were staying at the nearby Barony Castle Hotel for a weekend break and decided to have a meal on the Friday evening in the hotel and our second evening at this restaurant simply because it was conveniently located near the bottom of the driveway of the hotel. The Horseshoe was... More

Living locally this was the last of what we thought was a gastro pub we hadn't tried... What an amazing surprise to find it actually a high end fine dining restaurant instead to suit our taste. The building is like going into a hobbit hole. Oldie worldly, a sense of calm and beautiful decor. The staff were great; friendly, knowledgeable... More
