Relaxed, easy dining is offered here at The Horseshoe Inns Bistro, a low key alternative to the sumptuous Bardoulets Restaurant, which has made The Horseshoe famous on the Scottish dining scene. Cosy and rustic, the Bistro is centered around a wood paneled main bar with small round tables edged by linen covered chairs, dark wood original beams overhead and a wood fired stove throwing out warmth just perfect for those cold Scottish winters. A regularly changing menu allows acclaimed chef Patrick Bardoulet to tackle favourite classics from throughout Europe but with his trademark creative twist, using excellent seasonal ingredients from the many excellent producers Scotland has to offer. A childrens menu is available throughout the day, with equally carefully created dishes introducing small gastronomes to the world of good food. Meanwhile, the bar stocks an array of excellent ales well suited to the casual dining approach offered by The Horseshoe Inn Bistro.

Although The Horseshoe does not (yet) have a Michelin Star, this is the standard it tries to set, indeed a few Michelin Star chefs could learn a thing or two here. In particular, the preparation shows an understanding of subtlety of flavour, rather than assaulting our tastebuds with a sledgehammer. Delicious hors d'oeuvres in the bar, were followed by an... This was one of the best meals we have had in a very long time. We were passing through Eddleston on our way to Edinburgh and this was a spur of the moment stop. The food was mouth watering and the service as spot on. And all at a very reasonable price. Highly recommended. We will be going back.

We were staying at the Horseshoe Inn and on arrival were warmly welcomed and given a complimentary cup of tea and cake. Arriving for dinner we had a pre dinner drink, were able to leaf through the menu for the evening and we settled on having the tasting menu, pre dinner canapes were fantastic and I have to say the... It is obvious from the first booking that the management of the Horsehoe are going to provide a meal to remember . We visited for Sunday roast lunch a not always easy meal to prepare and serve just right in any restaurant. The Horsehoe achieved this to perfection : Fresh , tender and flavoursome beef, with just enough well cooked... More

We stayed for 2 nights and wished it had been longer. The staff are welcoming, friendly with good service that was not intrusive. The restaurant itself is not at all what you expect from the outside - fabulous deep seated sofas in the bar area, lovely dining tables and chairs creating a warm ambience with soft lighting and candles. The... More

This was our first visit to the Horseshoe and I have to say we were thoroughly delighted! It was clear from the outset that this is no ordinary restaurant. From the warm welcome on arrival, right through to the owner spending some time with us at the end of our meal, the Horseshoe clearly sets out to make an impression... More

My brother-in-law was visiting us from London and wanted to take us out for Suday lunch. The Horseshoe Inn at Eddlestone had been recommended to us by friends, but this was our first visit. From the friendly email following our initial booking, to our welcome on arrival, the canapés with our pre-lunch drinks, followed by a menu which competed with... More
