Description: Relaxed, easy dining is offered here at The Horseshoe Inns Bistro, a low key alternative to the sumptuous Bardoulets Restaurant, which has made The Horseshoe famous on the Scottish dining scene. Cosy and rustic, the Bistro is centered around a wood paneled main bar with small round tables edged by linen covered chairs, dark wood original beams overhead and a wood fired stove throwing out warmth just perfect for those cold Scottish winters. A regularly changing menu allows acclaimed chef Patrick Bardoulet to tackle favourite classics from throughout Europe but with his trademark creative twist, using excellent seasonal ingredients from the many excellent producers Scotland has to offer. A childrens menu is available throughout the day, with equally carefully created dishes introducing small gastronomes to the world of good food. Meanwhile, the bar stocks an array of excellent ales well suited to the casual dining approach offered by The Horseshoe Inn Bistro.

Friends invited us out for lunch to celebrate my husband's birthday . The adventure began with a bus trip from Edinburgh .We boarded a 62x and 45 minutes later having had a relaxed journey with time to view the lovely scenery we arrived right outside the Inn. There was a welcoming fire and equally welcoming staff. We had a superb... More

Had a special meal there with family and cannot fault any aspect of the food/ service/ ambience. Private dining area allowed us to really relax. All the little extras like canapes and sweets with our coffee. Very attentive and discrete staff and mouth watering food. I wish we lived a bit closer but we will be back!

We stayed and the Horseshoe Inn on a saturday night in mid August. We wanted to have a special dinner in nice surroundings and served in a similar fashion, and we were not disappointed. The atmosphere before, during and after the dinner was very nice, relaxing, friendly but professional. The quality of products, cooking and presentation was just what we... More

We had lunch in this inn and the experience was exceptional with a very discreet polite staff member looking after us very well indeed. The decor is beautiful and the atmosphere is welcoming and very calm. The wine was chilled to perfection. Our meal arrived and tasted delicious. My one observation would be that the service was rather slow even... More

Words do fail me for what a wonderful experience we had here. Party of nine, so we booked rooms on a DB&B, no big deal but......a truly unique location, setting, and a restaurant with rooms. From the minute we arrived, age range 20-80+ to celebrate our daughters 21st , the service was exceptional, starting with tea, cake and fizz on... More

The food in the Horseshoe is a delight although the menu is very limited. Three or four of our party were disappointed by the choices on offer, due to medical reasons, and had to request alternatives. The staff did try to accommodate their requests but the alternatives were very limited. The rest of our group thoroughly enjoyed the meal and... More

If you've never visited this exquisite, charming former coaching inn in the Scottish Borders, you simply don't know what you've missed. The welcome from friendly, yet polite, discreet staff is the first delight of your experience. Every mouthful of the food was a revelation, from the canapés, served in the bar area, through the amuse Bouche and each and every... More

This is the second time I've been here with my family and again, we all really enjoyed the evening and the food really was excellent, certainly enough to rival some restaurants we've eaten in with Michelin stars - I'm not really sure how the Horeshoe doesn't have one yet!! The service was generally good with friendly and knowledgeable staff although... More

We visited for our wedding anniversary, and from start to finish everything was perfect. We enjoyed the tasting menu of 7-8 courses, and the food and service were excellent. Every course was faultless, and the food coming from the kitchen was top class cooking with fresh local ingredients. We loved every minute!!

We have eaten here three times and it has never let us down at all. Wonderful cooking, probably one of the best places we have eaten in. The menu is good and its a really attractive, comfortable restaurant. The staff are unobtrusive, very efficient and professional.
