Relaxed, easy dining is offered here at The Horseshoe Inns Bistro, a low key alternative to the sumptuous Bardoulets Restaurant, which has made The Horseshoe famous on the Scottish dining scene. Cosy and rustic, the Bistro is centered around a wood paneled main bar with small round tables edged by linen covered chairs, dark wood original beams overhead and a wood fired stove throwing out warmth just perfect for those cold Scottish winters. A regularly changing menu allows acclaimed chef Patrick Bardoulet to tackle favourite classics from throughout Europe but with his trademark creative twist, using excellent seasonal ingredients from the many excellent producers Scotland has to offer. A childrens menu is available throughout the day, with equally carefully created dishes introducing small gastronomes to the world of good food. Meanwhile, the bar stocks an array of excellent ales well suited to the casual dining approach offered by The Horseshoe Inn Bistro.

Nice place to stop and eat while visiting Scotland. The restaurant is clean and the food is really good. My husband, friend and I were very impressed.

I reserved a table at The Horseshoe Inn to celebrate my birthday. I did this by phone and even from this early stage of reservation it felt special. The night started in the lounge area where you are presented with a menu of aperitifs to choose from and the staff member was very knowledgeable about all the offerings. At this... More

We had a wonderful meal, not cheap but excellent quality, with very professional and friendly service, even to the extent that they collected us from our hotel and took us back at the end of the night. We will certainly dine at the Horseshoe Inn again.

Arrived here en route to Stobo Castle. The Inn itself if full of character and very well looked after. The staff were excellent and couldn't be more helpful.. We had variations of the set Sunday lunch menu which was delicious with an amuse bouche to begin so really fine dining in a traditional style but not fine dining prices! When... More

My partner and I dined here Sat 6th June. We were staying at the nearby Barony Castle Hotel for a weekend break and decided to have a meal on the Friday evening in the hotel and our second evening at this restaurant simply because it was conveniently located near the bottom of the driveway of the hotel. The Horseshoe was... More

Living locally this was the last of what we thought was a gastro pub we hadn't tried... What an amazing surprise to find it actually a high end fine dining restaurant instead to suit our taste. The building is like going into a hobbit hole. Oldie worldly, a sense of calm and beautiful decor. The staff were great; friendly, knowledgeable... More

We visited this restaurant following a recommendation from friends. We chose the two course set lunch menu and found the quality of the food to be superb, with service to match; all within a delightfully refined setting. Would thoroughly recommend this place to lovers of good food.

Re-visited for a one night 'post birthday escape'. Beautiful early evening drive and easily found. Friendly and welcoming greeting at the restaurant where we recognised from our previous visit. Very impressed.... Shown to our lovely room and assured to 'take our time before returning for our meal'. Once suitably refreshed with a cup of tea & slice of home made... More

Although The Horseshoe does not (yet) have a Michelin Star, this is the standard it tries to set, indeed a few Michelin Star chefs could learn a thing or two here. In particular, the preparation shows an understanding of subtlety of flavour, rather than assaulting our tastebuds with a sledgehammer. Delicious hors d'oeuvres in the bar, were followed by an...
