Relaxed, easy dining is offered here at The Horseshoe Inns Bistro, a low key alternative to the sumptuous Bardoulets Restaurant, which has made The Horseshoe famous on the Scottish dining scene. Cosy and rustic, the Bistro is centered around a wood paneled main bar with small round tables edged by linen covered chairs, dark wood original beams overhead and a wood fired stove throwing out warmth just perfect for those cold Scottish winters. A regularly changing menu allows acclaimed chef Patrick Bardoulet to tackle favourite classics from throughout Europe but with his trademark creative twist, using excellent seasonal ingredients from the many excellent producers Scotland has to offer. We stayed for 2 nights and wished it had been longer. The staff are welcoming, friendly with good service that was not intrusive. The restaurant itself is not at all what you expect from the outside - fabulous deep seated sofas in the bar area, lovely dining tables and chairs creating a warm ambience with soft lighting and candles. The... More

This was our first visit to the Horseshoe and I have to say we were thoroughly delighted! It was clear from the outset that this is no ordinary restaurant. From the warm welcome on arrival, right through to the owner spending some time with us at the end of our meal, the Horseshoe clearly sets out to make an impression... More

My brother-in-law was visiting us from London and wanted to take us out for Suday lunch. The Horseshoe Inn at Eddlestone had been recommended to us by friends, but this was our first visit. From the friendly email following our initial booking, to our welcome on arrival, the canapés with our pre-lunch drinks, followed by a menu which competed with... More

Went to the Horseshoe Inn for a Mother's Day treat - party of 6. The whole experience was excellent! There was a very relaxed atmosphere for the whole time - we did not feel rushed at all. The meal started with canapes - delicious! The options for starters, mains and desserts were varied and catered to most tastes! Everyone was... More

If I could write a review to do this Chef justice, I would. But words fail me. My evening was a culinary delight, tasting food that transported me back to memories of a by gone age when food really was flavoursome through its own natural goodness. He combines simplicity with unpretentious taste sensations that truly titilate the taste buds. Sorry,... More

The restaurant is very comfortable, with the staff delivering excellent service and a nice atmosphere. We took the tasting menu, which was great (especially the pork belly), each course was delicious and the wine excellent. I took guests from Norway, and I would recommend this restaurant for a special occasion.

In a nutshell, we had a tremendous two night DBB stay at the Horseshoe, revelling in discreet and attentive service, with delicious food accompanied by a fine choice of wine. (More than 150 bottles on the wine list). The Horseshoe is on the main road at the tiny village of Eddleston a few miles out of Peebles and, blink, and... More

We didn't quite realise how fantastic it was going to be they fitted us in at short notice and the food was fab. Expensive but worth it if you want a treat. Service was 1st class really could not...
