Shelter from icy wind

As someone else has said, the Kofinn is a good place to shelter from the bitter Reykjavik wind. It's down some steps. Go down and in and the Arctic blast whistles impotently past above your head. Viking beer (OK if nothing special), and comfortable old shabby-chic seating. One of the bar staff... read more

By pricing standards in Reykjavik, I think their Happy Hour is good value with 2 Viking beers costing £5. Note that the Happy Hour lasts more than an hour. When my husband and I were there it started at 4pm and finished at 9pm. The Viking beer is excellent- even my husband, who isn't a beer drinker enjoyed it. I... More

I'm surprised that I haven't seen the Kofinn's smoothies mentioned lately: They were a lovely non-alcoholic freshener in a long, tiring day of walking around downtown Reykjavik: the avocado smoothie is like a vegetarian meal-in-a-glass. Funky decor (and 60s music) reminded me of the long-gone coffee-houses of my misspent Montreal youth! (Others were clearly enjoying the various meat soups and... More

The atmosphere at Kofinn was incredibly awesome. The associates working were very helpful and kind in addition to allowing me to plug in my laptop so I could start culling the photos I had from the trip so far. The food was good & I highly recommend making time to visit Kofinn during your trip, you'll be glad you did!... More

We visited Kofinn by chance due to how cold it was outside, but once inside a pleasant pub/restaurant awaited us. Reasonably priced drinks and a nice atmosphere this is definitely worth a look for tourists and it would have been nice to have ate here if it wasnt so late in the night. Randomly the bar staff got changed half... More

Great little gem of a bar. Lovely staff & great drinks. We had a White Russian & a Piña Colada & they were great. Well worth a cheeky visit!

.... because then you'll all want to go and then it'll get really busy and you'll spoil it for me.... This is where I go on a freezing cold day, to get warm, to drink bottles of dark beer, to read the papers, the magazines and my Kindle, to get away from loud and irritating tourists, to listen to chilled... Really nice atmosphere, staff were lovely. Had a spicy chicken soup which was great and very filling! Then stayed out for a quite a while with a friend with tea. I think we were the last people to leave! I never usually get that with a cafe/resteraunt

We went here for drinks on a couple of evenings, it's a strange little place, very small but actually really nice to chill out and have a few beverages! We didn't eat here at all but definitely nice for relaxing with drinks.
