We stopped at Hlolla Battar on our second last day in Iceland looking to save a few kronur and get sandwiches to take with us as we went sightseeing on the Golden Circle. The sandwiches were hot, flavorful, and all in all quite well done. Wide variety of choices, decently priced, quick service. The “cucumber” noted on many of the... More

Crispy meat on a warm bun with their special mayonnaise. What's not to love. Tough call between this and the hot dog stand for late night fast food

We are here upon recommendation of the City Walk tour guide Marteinn. He steered us right! Similar to a USA Quiznos. Subs (boats as they call them) cooked to order. Then their special Hlolla sauce on top. Similar to a thin mayo with flavor. Nothing fancy. You dine on stools at a counter, but definitely a local favorite. Ours too,... More

Really juicy Subs loaded with stuff and maybe too much sauce. NOT a healthy choice but sometimes you need this kind of energy

Eating after 10.30 pm is a challenge in Reykjavik. We ended in Hlolla Batar with no special expectations and we really enjoyed it very much. Take your tile to read the menu and laugh with the name of the sandwiches. We had the ones with lamb : really good and tasty !! Good fun to eat @Hlolla Bator !

Strolling around Reykjavik one day, we were distracted by the intoxicating smell of bacon wafting through the air and tracked it down to this place. Reading through the very long menu, we thought it sounded so audacious that we even took a photograph. Days later. we were looking for a quick lunch option and decided to stop by for a... More

Eating out in Iceland is pricey, and fast food is no exception. But I must say that the sandwich I got was the BEST sub I've ever had. Can't remember the name, but it had pulled pork, pickled red cabbage, grilled onions and mayo. Just fantastic!!!!!!!

Our first meal in Iceland. We wandered for a while, looking for a cheapish way to have lunch and eventually found this. What a find! While not normally a baguette/sub fan, I must say it was absolutely delicious! Much better than other 'sub' places I could mention. We will definitely be going back! :-)

It has been close to a year since I have been to Iceland and ate at the Hlollabatar and I will say ever since I left I have been craving one! Quick, convenient and paired nicely with an Appelsin you defiantly cannot go wrong. The Hot Shot Batur was my favorite!!! DELICIOUS whether it was a late night snack, lunch... More
