Description: Twined for 90 years. Our casa, Sólfell, was built in 1921 and has a rich history twined with Spain. Originally Sólfell housed the production of bacalao (salted cod/saltfiskur) and Spain was by far the biggest buyer. A newspaper article from 1921 tells how the Spanish renewed the contract between the two countries. The contract was literally a big deal because the magnitude was such that the Spanish bought all the exported bacalao that year. A new Spanish contract. We have reversed things. Before the bacalao started its journey from here to Spain but now we import from Spain everything that gives us the warmth and feel of the south. Of course the bacalao has a special place in our hearts as well as on our menu along with other delicacies, enough to give you what you need to put together your dream feast, there are thousands of possible combinations. There is a certain equilibrium in the fact that we have now offer a contract with whomever enters our establishment. In it we state our determination to offer the best of the Spanish tradition in this historical house with a unique fusion of our beloved home country. Enjoy.

Loved this place. I couldn't fault this restaurant and had we been in Reykjavik longer, we would have eaten there again. Great food deliciously cooked. We chose 8 dishes between the 4 of us and they were all very tasty. The service was great and our waiter was very friendly and good fun. I would definitely recommend eating here.

Wandering along the harbour front looking for somewhere to get out of the wind and snow, we found this place. Having had a four course tasting menu the night before, we were looking for something lighter and the idea of tapas sounded particularly good. Despite it being a Friday night we managed to get a table without too many issues,... More

The food is to die for, the service is great and atmosphere is distinctly local. As with all of Reykjavik it is a bit spendy but come on you are on vacation! Get the fried Langoustine you wont be disappointed.

Even though I live in Reykjavík I had never tried this place. I came here with my friends and we were not disappointed. First of all the place is very cozy, secondly the service is outstanding and thirdly the food is amazing!! I tried the beef and lobster and was delighted. Reccommend this place!

My family ate in this restaurant yesterday, two of us had the fish lovers deal, and the others had the fabulous four deal. All the food was excellent, service very good, all in all a very enjoyable experience.

Me and my wife ate dinner here for our date night. Food was great and tasted very well. As can be expected at a Tapas place the portions are small. Main complaint is lack of many traditional Spanish tapas dishes.

I foolishly didn't consider this restaurant at first as I didn't want to eat Spanish food in Iceland - well, it follows the tapas basis in that you can order lots of smaller dishes but its all local food. As it turned out, this was a lovely meal. The atmosphere was very nice with lots of candles, the food and... More

Tried the set lunch here and were pleasantly surprisedly at the quality of the food as we were having lunch quite late. The fish soup in particular was very good so we will come here again on our next visit to Reykjavik. Like everywhere in Iceland, drink is expensive but the food was good value for money. Sit upstairs if... More

all the food we had was so good, cooked the right way with very nice seasoning, the lamb was the best I ever had. All the components in the dish worked really good together. The icelandic-spanish mix worked really good together! This restaurant knows what its doing when putting meals together! The portions is quite big as well. The seafood... More
