While another of Reykjavics more expensive eateries, this place will not disappoint. The staff was professional and friendly, the atmosphere is awesome, and the food was incredible. We sampled a bit of everything, and were not disappointed. Even the bread was delicious! Expensive, yes, but what isn't in Iceland?!? Do yourself a favor, and spoil yourself with a meal here.... Tricky to find (not easy to spot the signpost from the main road), but worth seeking out. We found excellent food, at very affordable prices. (Reykjavik would normally be much more expensive than this.) Very tasty, good atmosphere. For dessert, seek out the "Grillmarkadurinn Chocolate" - wonderful!

Food was incredible and so fresh. Service was excellent, and our waiter was so friendly, talking with us about Iceland. He was also kind enough to give us a free dessert when he made a mistake with my husband's order. Worth the money.

this is probably one of the best restaurants i have ever been to. and a very good reason to visit Reykjavik! The decor, starting from the staircase going underground is outstanding, I was lucky to visit with local who recommended some amazing food. It was an experience throughout.

Visited the Grillmarkadurinn on July 24th with some friends. Had the tasting menu. One of the best meals I've had. A wide selection of foods (they even tailored it due to an allergy) - each course better than the previous one. Meat, fish, vegetables, dessert. The decor and staff are also top-notch. If you want to know what Icelandic foods... More

The restaurant is beautiful with interesting, natural decor. The food is fantastic and well prepared and the staff is friendly and attentive. We had lunch as a family of four with drinks for the grownups for $100US which while expensive was not outrageous. The portions are generous so one corse is plenty for the average person. Everything was flavorful, well... More

The fish served here was some of the freshest and most inventive that we had while in Reykjavik. Be prepared for a bit of sticker shock when you receive the bill. Even by Icelandic standards, this restaurant is expensive. We had a wonderful lunch without having to worry about reservations. The ambiance and decor were fabulous. The service was friendly... More

This restaurant is one of the best ones I have ever visited. The food was perfect - I almost cry because I cannot visit here more often. The fish is just so fresh and tastes lovely. We didn't have a reservation but we got seats in the front of the kitchen. Specially our little son liked to watch the cooks... More
