This restaurant is actually amazing, no exaggeration. Lovely warm service from all the staff who are very knowledgeable about all the dishes. We were unintentionally quite difficult customers as we were a little indecisive on what to order , but our host was very patient with us, even when we cancelled our main because the bread served with the starter... Quite simply one of the finest, most fun and varied meals I've had in ages We had the grill party, 9 course tasting menu that included everything from puffin, whale, salmon, beef, pork belly, lamb, goose to creme brûlée and almond cake. Everything tasted wonderful and the variety was excellent. Service was unhurried and we spent over 3 hours enjoying... More

Approaching a trip to Iceland, I stumbled upon this beautiful place on TripAdvisor and it sold me from the beginning. The food was incredible, we both had the Holiday Menu for Lunch, and it was great. Worth the price, as each course was hand delivered by someone willing to explain the courses, how they were made, and what they included.... More

Stunning! I wish we had time for second visit but alas. I had the lamb and friend had Langoustine pasta which was simply amazing. Portions were good, quality high, flavour incredible and impeccable service to boot. Wine selection and advice were fantastic. We sat downstairs and we pre booked, there was a queue trying to get in so we marched... More

I regularly visit this restaurant as this is close to my work. At best this place is average, very surprised that this has earned its place as No.1 in Reykjavik. The food served is sometimes not cooked thoroughly, sometimes you have to wait a very long time for the food to arrive, you almost never get consistently the food served... More

Great atmosphere, nice beer, great food, fish in this case and a great desert. All well served and every dish was explained for it's contents.

All in all, this was the best meal we had in Reyjavik. Busy, bustling restaurant, attentive staff and a great vibe. My husband ordered the fish menu; a seafood soup, fish main (which was catfish and cod) and an almond cake dessert- all delicious. I had carpaccio of beef to start, which was lovely, but the main of pasta with... More

Ok. The place deserves a visit. But not that others are saying! I got mouthed reading about the "best cod fish ever eaten...". Then decided to prove it. Nice place, casual atmosphere, lots of people ("number one..."). Then came the cod fish. Good for a picture, although with no taste and kind of fatty, accomplished by some gooey side. Expected... My second visit to Sjávargrillið and still the no.1 one restaurant in RVK. We had a four course meal with wines and is was absolutely great. Good selection of courses and very tasteful. The selection of wines could have been a little bit better. A bit expensive but well worth it.
