a pleasant surprise

We did not check Tripadvisor before we went there. But the neigbourhood was just too expensive and this nepalese restaurant reminded us of another long trip back in the eighties. And the memories of Nepal indeed came with the dishes - delicious. But there was also the memory of the disguting: You shouldn't palpate every glass, my dear waiter!

We tried this restaurant wit a group of friends and none of us had any idea about what Nepalese food would like, we asked at reception and they gave us the hint that we should expect something similar to Indian food with touch of local herbs collected from mountains of Nepal, we ordered different appetizers, main dishes and finally desserts... It's not what I was expecting, but it was still very tasty, a little on the sweet side for me. I was there mid-week, on a rather slow night, so the staff would disappear for long stretches of time, but when they were around, they were very friendly and fun to talk with.

2 vegetarians, 1 vegan and 1 meat eater all enjoyed our experience dining out here. The food was excellent - generous portions and very tasty. As lovers of Indian food for our tastes the "hot" was not "hot" enough but the staff obliged and spiced it up further!

This restaurant is sensational. We were in Kathmandu in March, so the taste of Nepali food was still fresh in our memories. Strange to say, this Nepali restaurant in Reykjavik outdid any Nepali restaurant we had visited in Kathmandu. It has an excellent vegetarian selection, which was critical for us. I particularly liked the korma (cashew) dish, for which the... More

The food was exquisite, with flavors that were incredible and very nuanced. Service was outstanding, with an emphasis on our being pleased and, if not, or if the food wasn't spiced to our liking, to let them know and they would correct it immediately. As for the naan, none that I've ever had even comes close to this. If you... More

we weren't expecting to find a Nepalese/Indian place in Reykjavik, but find it we did and it really was great. All in all, good value for money. They were relatively cheap and gave good sized portions. Be warned that it is always tricky with Indian places what they mean by spicy but this one does not inflate the meaning of... More

Roaming aimlessly on rainy evening looking for dinner options. Literally, the wonderful spicy aroma coming from the Nepalese Kitchen drew us into the quaint, cozy, quiet, local favorite. We love Indian and eat it frequently so we were hopeful based on first impression. The servers as well as chef (owner?) greeted us cheerily and attended to us throughout the meal... More

Located in city centre, great indian/ nepalese food. Friendly staff and great vegetarian food. Mango lassi was great too.
