The staff is very friendly at Kitchen Eldhús and the location is good on Laugavegur. But what pulls down the grade for me is the food. It's not bad - well prepared and tastes nice - but I missed the "wow-factor" that a really good Indian restaurant can give me. I had papadums, tawa macha with nan bread and rasgulla.... More

Really loved this place. Went with eight friends to enjoy a meal and a quite night together. The owner gave us excellent advice on what to order. Even the dishes that were more Indian than Nepalese were excellent, made from his own combinations of spices. A vegetarian's paradise.

This was our place to fill up on Indian food before we started our journey around Iceland! The food was basic but well made. The Nepalese owners were ever present and helpful.. The spread in veg options were delightful.. The naan / rice accompanied with the veggie made a whole meal!

After eating Scottish food for a week and a half, this Nepalese restaurant hit the spot! The service was amazing and the people we very friendly. We ordered two starters and three mains between my family of four and it was the perfect amount of foods the starters came shortly and they were so warm and delicious! As soon as... More

Can't understand the tripadvisor reviews. We waited at least 60 minutes for a mediocre meal ... And I'm being generous. Uninspired food, poor service and expensive.

The restaurant offers Indian and Nepalese food. It took the waiter about 25 minutes to take the meal order, and another 25 minutes for the food to come. It tasted delicious, though. However, the portions were kind of small so that we were not fully satiated. The meals are average in price, compared to the Icelandic standard. All in all, an... More

We went here because of the rave tripadvisor reviews. These proved inexplicable. We waited an hour for cold, soft popadoms, then another 45 minutes for our main courses. When these arrived, the naan bread fabled in other reviews took a further 30 minutes. My curry was not what I'd ordered but by this point we'd lost interest. A starter of... More

We tried a LOT of restaurants throughout Reykjavik, and Kitchen Eldhus was our best meal - by far. Wonderful curry and the price can't be beaten for the quality. We dropped so much more $$ for so much less.m Only regret? That we found it at the end of our trip, otherwise we would have gone again (and again)!

A friendly welcome from the owner together with anecdotes about the recipes made us feel welcome in this typical Indian/Nepalese restaurant. The food was tasty, fairly priced for Iceland, the young, inexperienced serving staff very willing, if somewhat zealous in clearing dishes too soon, and the menu choices interesting. The cluttered, slightly scruffy room could do with a bit of... More
