Great soup & great value

The excellent lamb soup in an awesome hollowed-out crusty cob loaf hit the spot perfectly on the day of our arrival in Reykjavik. We were looking for something hot, simple and inexpensive. It was excellent value (by regular standards, let alone Iceland prices!) at 1650kr for a very filling meal... read more

We went there to eat the classic soup within the breadplate. It tasted amazing. They offer 2 soups (one with meat one vegetarian). Nevertheless we were 4 persons and it was impossible to share a table. We has to split up. That was pretty upsetting.

Tried here twice during our stay. Bar is loacted upstairs and gets full quick. Simple idea soup in a bread bowl but fantastic cuisine. 2 different types of soup on offer . Gets you warmed up after a cold day walking around the centre. Someone should try this idea in the uk. Try eating the whole cob.

We stopped by here on the first day of our arrival in Iceland we were pretty hungry and really didn't know quite where to go. I love soup mind you, this place is cozy as others mentioned not a lot of seating so the place does get full quickly. They had two soup options while we were there. I got... More

A Reykjavik must do! The best culinary experience of my trip. Spicy meat and veg soup in soft, fresh, crispy bread, so nice. Very friendly service, pleasant atmosphere, located half way along main road through the centre. If in doubt, go here!

It was a very cosy place to enjoy a meal, and in our case a drink. The food did look very good! Prices were reasonable (for Reykjavik). Service was nice and friendly, and there was pleasant music playing in the background. Disappointed by the talk of wifi – but as they stated – it meant you had to talk to... More

Saw this while looking for eating places prior to our visit and thoroughly enjoyed the soup, so much so i polished off the roll too, though not sure if this was the done thing. Hit the spot after a tiring day walking the town. Thanks Al

The soup is served in a bread roll, but this is far from a gimmick. The food at the restaurant is amazing. The soup tastes incredible and goes perfectly with a beer. Service was fast and friendly. I would totally recommend.

First day in Reykjavik had a walk through the center. Decided to stop here and try the soup. It came served in a giant bread roll and was delicious. Between the group we had the tomato and the mixed meat soup and both were great. Staff were superb. This was also the first taste of Gull Beer which would also... More
