On a cold summer day in Iceland (rainy!), soup was a welcomed meal. Soup in a bread-bowl is even BETTER! I really enjoyed the meal I had there. The soup I enjoyed was a sort of 'cream of mushroom' homemade soup, very delicious. They have both a meat and vegetarian soup option every day. I enjoyed my soup with a... More

What more can you want on a cool wet day. They always have two soups , one meat based and one vegetarian, always served in a beautiful crusty bread bowl. Filling and at just 1500 Kroner one of the best deals in Reykjavik .

Just arrived in Reykjavik and this was our first dining experience. Was delighted with the chicken soup in a tomato based stock. Came served in a bread loaf and as we were hungry we devoured the lot... Including the bread bowl! Not sure if you are meant to eat that or not but we did and it was lovely. Hot,... More

We came here around 9pm and there was just one type of soup left on the menu (they completely ran out 15 minutes later). The bread bowl soup was hearty and a good value. The bar has a nice selection of beer and the place remained lively into the night even after the soups ran out. The patrons were mostly... More

My wife and I had our last meal here before leaving for home. Ambiance was great, service was very good, soup and beers were fantastic. The only negative is the price...but then again everything in Iceland is expensive.

Lunch in this restaurant, we tested the local soup (in the bread) and a sandwich. The food was correct but nothing more, it is ok for a quick lunch. Some local and international beers on draft available. Place was receiving plenty of tourists on that day.

Simple.... Soup in a bread bowl, that's it. Today was spicy Mexican and Italian meat. We were both delight with the soup, tasty and filling!! Wash it down with a drink from the large selection.

Very good cream soups in "bred-bowl" :) Every day two types. We tried more times, all of them were very tasty. The place is not too big, but we always got table for four.

The soup-in-bread was surprisingly filling _and_ good. They seem to have two different kinds, the kinds vary occasionally but typically one is vegetable, and one is meat-ish. I had some spicy south american meat soup, and it was very good bang for the buck. That + beer, and I rolled home ;-)

Go ahead and look at the menu, but you come here for soup. I wanted to go everyday it was that good. Go for the bread bowl; it absorbs the broth and you can scrap the lining.... so very good. The local beers are lovely with the soup. Don't forget to check the Mario Brothers themed bathroom.
