We stumbled on this lovely place. Staff very friendly and gave us a warm welcome. We had the Christmas soup which consists reindeer and truffle oil served in a crusty bread . It's one of the nicest soups I've had. We were given complimentary coffee as it was my birthday and they brought over a cake which my partner requested.... More

Great cafe. Must try their soup in full bread. Served a great bottle of halloween porter too. I left my glasses behind and although Luca had never seen me before he watched out for me for over an hour until I thankfully passed the Cafe again and he ran out to me with my glasses. You would be lucky to... More

We found this place by chance... They had a Guinness sign outside so we followed. But once we were in we found the amazing soup in a bread bowl! It was well worth the visit. And the place was located in a lovely place with very friendly staff. This is a fantastic little place!

Lovely little spot, with gorgeous creamy soup served in a hollowed out cottage loaf, so cosy and great for warming up on a cold winters day. I would recommend to everyone!

I would recommend visiting this while visiting Iceland. Great value for food and a pint. Friendly atmosphere.

Friends had recommended this place with its famous soup served in bowls made of bread. We looked forward to trying and it did not disappoint. Fairly limited choice but with one meat and one veg on offer you should be ok. We tried the veg -cauliflower- as the detail of what was in the meat one was a bit lacking.... More

Friendly, cosy place (pretty small in fact!) with good soup served in a small loaf scooped out to form a bread bowl. Good food, good fun.

Since my first visit to Iceland in 1999 and my two dozen return trips to the country since, I have always made a point to stop in at Svarta Kaffi for one of their delicious soups -- either a meat or veggie option -- in their freshly made bread bowls. Years ago, Svarta Kaffi was one of the few affordable... More

I went for dinner and had the lamb soup in a bread bowl. It was delicious and I couldn't even finish the bread bowl. I tried the seasonal winter ale and it was excellent. One of the best values in Reykjavik! It was small, cozy and the staff was friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend this establishment!
