A Real Treat

On our last night in Iceland we realized that we hadn't had a shot of black death and also, we had a few kronor burning a hole in our pockets. We spent what we had left on: two shots of black death, which was actually quite tolerable, a bowl of Mexican soup in a bread bowl, an Icelandic beer and... read more

Soup in a bread loaf! Delicious and warmingly welcomed when you've been walking around in the beautiful chill of Reykavik. Definitely recommend visiting when in the city.

Everyone is right - the soups are fabulous and in Reykjavik, excellent value. Not sure why the sign mentions any other food because they said the kitchen was closed and they only had soup. If the restaurant is full when you arrive, even if people are paying and ready to leave, they will send you away. There is no place... More

Cozy restaurant in Reykjavik downtown. Waiters extremely friendly and polite. Two kind of delicious soup: meat or mushrooms. They serve it inside a big loaf of bread. Something more than 10 euros for a meal and I'd say cheap in a very expensive city. I recommend it.

I loved this small bar/ restaurant with its two giant tureens of soup, served in giant hollowed out cottage loaves. It made for a very economical and filling supper, at the bargain rate of 2,800 ISK (about £14) including a large beer. The choices were spicy Mexican meat soup or Italian vegetable soup, and you eat the bread bowl as... More

Good fun place to eat. The soup in the bread is tasty and very filling. The staff are very friendly and create a good atmosphere.

Both daily soups the day we went -- cream of mushroom and an Italian meat soup, were wonderful. Bread is also very tasty and there is enough to be filling for dinner. Very reasonable prices for Iceland.

Soup served in a loaf so you can eat the dish! Brilliant. They have 2 soups on each day (they are really thick so they don't soak in too much!). We tried both the day we went & they were very good. They also do other things such as salads & sandwiches.

One of my favorite things to eat in Iceland is Soup (I'm not a fish eater). Here they have different selections each day, typically offering some sort of meat soup and a vegetable soup all served in a bread bowl. As far as i could tell soup is all they serve, but its delicious. I recommend you stop by and... More

Highly recommended for a nice hearty bowl of soup. We ordered the lamb and beef soup which was delicious, and the bread was equally tasty.
