Go ahead and look at the menu, but you come here for soup. I wanted to go everyday it was that good. Go for the bread bowl; it absorbs the broth and you can scrap the lining.... so very good. The local beers are lovely with the soup. Don't forget to check the Mario Brothers themed bathroom.

We sought Svarta Kaffi out having read the reviews and were interested to try the bowls made out of bread and it didnt disappoint. We had a vegetable soup and a spicy meat soup, both excellent. And yes, we ate the bowls - very nice crusty bread on the outside and soft inside. The friendly waiter told us they were... More

This pub has a unique speciality of soup served in a bread bowl. There was a choice of lamb or vegetable soup and they were both delicious. The meal is extremely filling with massive portions! I felt like I would never be hungry again and only one member of our group managed to eat the entire thing. Great to go... More

Loved it. The restaurant seems to offer two soups daily, one of which will be vegetarian. Get a table by the window if you can. A fine Reykjavik experience.

I found the sign "bread in soup" to be too compelling to ignore. I was a bit cautious whether or not this was some tourist scam, but an Icelander confirmed that I ought to try it. So I went in and I'm glad I did! I had the South-american meat soup and both the soup and the bread was delicious.... More

My boyfriend and I shared a bread bowl because it was a lot of soup! Sooo delicious. We had some sort of spicy meat soup and it was very good. I would definitely go back. Also, the atmosphere was very cute.

They just had 2 soup on the menu at the time and it was great. One veggie soup - coconut and curry, and a meat soup - lamb, beef, south american style. 2 soups, 1 beer, 4000 kr. Very happy.

Great little cafe. I came here with my wife back in March for drinks and we came back a few days later for soup in a bread dish, which filled us up for the whole day. The soup changed every day and I thought the food was reasonably priced and the service was good.
