We've eaten some fantastic food in Iceland, but this place takes some beating - the lamb was amazing, as are the views over the port, fjord and cathedral. We visited in midwinter so couldn't enjoy the terrace, but the inside is cosy and chic - like Iceland itself really!

Stopped here on our first night in Akureyri. It's a top floor restaurant which provided stunning snowy views, offered excellent service and flavoursome food. The server was very knowledgable and clearly interested in our table offering recommendations and showing a good knowledge of the menu. There was a special Christmas offering that was good value for the courses but whilst... More

Reindeer burger was simply awsome. Very big size and a lot of french fries aside. Very friendly service!

On the 5th and last floor of the building, this restaurant has a nice view on Akureyri harbour and a cozy atmosphere. I chose the icelandic menu consisting of 5 courses with local specialities for about 9000 kr. It was really fine and good-looking food. Congratulations to the chef! Worth the price! Service was also very kind and professional. But... More

The first meal we visited Akureyri (in later of the time, our tourist guide and a lady from store also recommended). Food is good and well presented. All 7 of us had a main course and cost around ISK34000.- (you can get a coupon for a free traditional tasting dish from tourist information centre)

We chose this restaurant on the basis of TripAdvisor reviews, but we must have gone on a bad night or a lot of those reviews must have been overly generous in the mark. Yes there is a good view, but the food was not good. We both had the cod loin and it was only just cooked. In fact it... More

We were in Akureyri 2 nights. On our second night we went to Strrkid - on the top floor of a city centre building facing the harbour. We ordered the beef tenderloin and the pan fried light salt cod. Both meals were fabulous. The beef was perfectly done and very tender. The cod was excellent and came with a wonderful... More

I don't rave about restaurants a lot because my palate is really hard to please but Strikið is one of those rare places that make me go 'wow, just wow'. I had the guillemot starter and the trio of seafood (ling, trout and puffin) and the skyr mousse for dessert. The lovely presentation aside, the flavours were extremely well balanced,... More

We were delighted by this little restaurant on the upper floor of the building, from which you can enjoy a stunning view of the city, with the main church and the fjord. We tried some sushi, whale meat and reindeer burger and everything was wonderful and freshly made. The bread (homemade) with the skyr-butter cream on the top is definitely... More

This restaurant is on an upper floor of an office building, so you have to look for it. But, it's worth looking for. Like most Icelandic restaurants, it's expensive. But the food and service were worth it, especially the food. It was exceptional.
