Obviously this place is in Finland therefore the ambiance and general feel by default has to be Finnish. However if it is your first visit to Helsinki and if by any chance you have been to Bettys in York in the North of England - that is the sort of place to expect. Charming little café serving beautiful (both to... More

I was here last month, it was kind of busy but it was manageable. I had a quick lunch with one of my colleagues but it took a long time before our food was served (although it was really good). The staff was really nice, they told us some directions.

There is an Ekberg store where you can get your treats to take away and there is ANOTHER Ekberg next door where you can order a treat and sit down and have something to eat and drink, more of a cafe. I had one of the pulla's which was tasty. Good location near an indoor market.

Average breakfast buffet but due to high price rated as 'poor'; there are places around with much better price / quality (try 'Engel'), with good ambiance. Breakfast equals quality you also get in a decent hotel, only in the hotel you get at least your coffee served! Buffet does not reflect that Ekberg is bakery too.

We had a delicious buffet lunch at Ekberg's Bakery. There were many choices of food to choose from--sweet breads, salad fixings, soups and entrees. The value was decent and the quality high. We felt we had a good variety and each person in our party was pleased to find what they wanted.

We visited twice whilst in Helsinki. The brunch buffet is highly recommended, but when the buffet isn't on it becomes a more exensive posh cafe.

The good points: it is centrally located and the food (we took two salads, one pastry, and one sweet cake) was of good quality. The less good points: the service was a bit slow and the waitress didn't really speed up, we got only a finnish card although we spoke english, the waitress has let our sweets falling down on... We stayed at Helsinki Finland for 2 weeks between 12 to 26 August 2013 and visited Ekberg several times because we felt it was so relaxing to sit over a cup of tea/coffee.. This traditional 'old' establishment where the building has a high ceiling and inside decor has 2 large antique mirrors (I think they are of the old mirrors... More

This place has been there for ages and it has this old kind of charm. Table service inside, outside terrace you have to order/pay inside first. I went there today (26.8.2013)and had a goat cheese salad and their own ice tea. Salad was good but not huge by any means. Service is very polite, reasonable prices.

I was expecting great things from this cafe from the reviews. I went at 7.30 am for an early breakfast. It was around 10 euros; it's a continental buffet selection. The tea is not very nice and there is no option of hot water as I had brought a backup tea bag with me. The porridge is made with salt;... More
