The Lasipalatsi building was originally built in the 1930s to serve as a temporary bazaar. After years of glory and some years of degradation, Lasipalatsi underwent a complete renovation and reopened its doors last autumn. The architects restored the original funtionalist style of the building with pure white walls, large windows, interiors with warm colours and delighful little details. Neon lights on the wall outside have been characteristic of the building right from the beginning. Nowadays Lasipalatsi hosts a movie theatre, a library, a TV studio, a media centre, a restaurant and three cafés amongst others. The legendary Lasipalatsi restaurant is situated on the first floor of the Lasipalatsi building. The restaurant seats 250; it also has a bar, two cabinets, and a Winter Garden which is rufurnished to its 1930s style with live palm trees. The à la carte menu reveals Finnish traditions with fresh domestic raw materials, combined with international influences.

Ravintola Lasipalatsi is an amazingly nice place in the heart of Helsinki. Nicely located in between central railway station and Kamppi shopping mall. Friendly service with reasonable price.

The restaurant location in the heart of Helsinki, it no longer than 200 meters from Kamppi, where is the central bus/subway stops. The restaurant itself has atmosphere which reminds 1940's - 1950's style, it is nice and clean including good service and personal contact to customers. The winelist is good standard, but it was not surprising for my taste. Menu... More

We celebrated my wife's 60th birthday. The pleasant experience started from the booking the table. The lady told that she is trying to find a table for 4 adults and 2 child, or as she said 6 persons. And we got that table, even it was Saturday and St. Valentine's Day! And that table was excellent, just by the window.... More

When you pinpoint a single restaurant as "a yearly must", it says something about the food, the service and the atmosphere. Ravintola Lasipalatsi and its famous Blini is a must for hungry humans who love good food.

Good restaurant with great location in center of Helsinki. A bit on the expensive side though. If visiting in Jan-Mar there are delicious blinis available: with 30eur you get 6 toppings and unlimited amount on freshly baked delicious blinis straight from pan.

For a salty price you can see famous funktionalism architecture, get an tasty starter and cold, untasty, uglilooking "stroganof" bif. What you really don't see is an waiter by your table.

Restaurant Lasipalatsi in located right in the city of Helsinki in Mannerheimintie. We had a dinner for 50 persons in separate room called Palmu. The menu was very tasty and the wines were well chosen. All the staff members were polite. The resraurant was very crouded on Friday evening, so the pre-booking may be preferred.

We have been eating several time in this restaurant and we have never been disappointed. The fishes from Finland are very tasteful. I and my wife had exeptionally good fish meals. My wife had perch an I had pike-perch made according to reserpine of Finnish war marshal Mannerheim. Both meal were gourmet quality. The atmosphere is very warm and cozy... More
