Beautiful classy interior in central location

I was on a short business trip, and my local colleague showed me around the city including this beautiful place. We had the Salmon soup, which was delicious and came with a range of bread to choose from. It was the perfect dinner on cold evening. The wine was rather on the pricey side with 7 - 9... read more

In this cafe you can imagine how Helsinki was in the late 1800's. If you sit in the round window box facing the Espland park the view has been the same for over a hundred years. Minus the traffic. The cafe has also the soup od the day, highly recommended. Pricey like every cafe in Helsinki, but nice atmosphere. Cafe... More

This is a remarkable looking glass building, erected in 1840. It is a typical example of the new possibilities of building with steel and glass in those days (like perhaps Chrystal palace in London, but this one predates that one by ten years). This place was always meant to be a place for food, and all that glass and steel... More

Overpriced! 7,8 euros for a pastry! I can almost get a lunch with that price! The atmosphere and location is nice though and it is nice to sit there, but can’t visit too often.

I was in Helsinki during the first week in April and went to this cafe twice for cappuccino. I didn't get a chance to eat but the food and deserts looked great too. And the prices were reasonable for the place. It is a great atmosphere to experience.

This restaurant is in a beautiful, old mostly-glass building at one end of the Esplanade, in what must be one of a handful of most prime locations in Helsinki. It would be worth coming to this place just for the setting. But the food is good too. I was with a group and ordered a set menu, three courses. All... More

Really nice place on the Esplanades in the centre of Helsinki. Lovely old building with masses of windows giving an airy feel & allowing you to look out on the park or towards the harbour. Building divided into bar, café (also v nice) & restaurant. Service friendly & attentive. Food v good ... I had a beetroot & goat's cheese... More

Beautiful old glass house with sparkling chandeliers on the posh Esplanade. Great menu with a Finnish touch, small portions. Take your time here, dress up a bit, maybe make a reservation in advance and enjoy a three course meal. We had lovely lunch and coffee. They have a good kids menu.

Formal but relaxed, lovely tranquil restaurant in the middle of the hustle. A welcome respite. Worth the experience, food was tasty and presented well.

Arrived quite late (9.30 pm) but was met with very friendly faces. It was crowded but they found a spot for me (was alone, on business). Service was fast and the food was exquisite. Only ordered a main course but the taste blew me away! Rather pricey for non-nordic people but worth it in my opinion. Beautiful, unique building in... More
