Description: Bellevue is the oldest Russian restaurant in Helsinki, founded in 1917 and has ever since been known for its good food and unique atmosphere. The old and valuable paintings, chairs and chandeliers take you back to the days of the Czar. The authentic Russian atmosphere is completed by classical Russian music in the background. Also the menu brings old Russian cuisine to you. The chefs are flexible and highly professional, so if one of your favorite classic Russian dishes is not on the menu, it is always worthwhile asking for it. There are also three private rooms in the restaurants.

I attended a big family gathering here and we had a three course menu. I guess the food was okay, but since when is Crème brûlée a Russian dessert? I had expected something far more exotic. Also I got pretty offended when the server assumed that I was underaged and didn't want to serve me any alcoholic drinks at first.... More

I have visited Bellevue before but this time I was somewhat disappointed. The service was friendly and the atmosphere is good but the food quality had gone down. We had blinis as starters and they were ok. The main course was a big disappointment: somehow the fish (siika) did not seem fresh and the taste was not what one would... More

The food was great overall, but as a russian i need to comment that the food wasn't completely authentic russian. The steak was absotely fabolous and so was the borsch soup, but the pastry that came along with it didn't seem russian at all. The biggest dissapointment was the russian teaplate that came loaded with cookies that were most likely... More

Bellevue, opened already in 1917, maintains its charm. Friendly waiters are wearing Russian costumes and tidy interior could almost be from the times of Russian Tsars. Bellevue serves excellent food. Try Закуски, Russian appetizers and you get an assortment of marinated delights with different types of fish, roe of vendace and tasty meats. If you still are hungry, try braised... More

Had lunch here yesterday and quite frankly it was better food than i had when i travelled in Russia. The blinis were lovely. I had a weird fried rissole of chicken and pork for main and bizarrely pavlova for dessert. The service was excellent but it should be noted that at lunchtime they have a much reduced menu to choose... More

I believe this restaurant received two Michelin Stars in 2013 and I think they're quite deserving of that rating. Since it's a Russian restaurant, you can expect simple but tasty food and the File Stroganoff was cooked to perfection. Chicken Kiev was good, but I would not go as far as calling it perfect. The décor is a little dated... More

This is the first time I had a Russian cuisine and to be honest, I don't really know what to make of it. I ordered the reindeer meat and find it very tasty. There was also small appetizer that was served with different sauce and condiments. From the outside, you would not notice that its a Russian restaurant. There was... More

We visited this restaurant on the basis of earlier reviews and were not disappointed. My g/f partner enjoyed the blini and found it full of flavour. Be aware, though, that they make the mix for this 24 hours ahead, so it might be worth a phone call beforehand if a gluten free blini is essential to your enjoyment here. The... More

A wonderfully pleasing restaurant hidden behind the Uspenski Orthodox Cathedral. You can sense the history of the place as you enter, with an old rustic yet classy look and feel. It has all the classics you would expect of Russian food; chicken Kiev, beef Stroganoff, borshch soup, Lambsaslik and blinies with various toppings. But it also has a bunch of... More
