Description: Bellevue is the oldest Russian restaurant in Helsinki, founded in 1917 and has ever since been known for its good food and unique atmosphere. The old and valuable paintings, chairs and chandeliers take you back to the days of the Czar. The authentic Russian atmosphere is completed by classical Russian music in the background. Also the menu brings old Russian cuisine to you. The chefs are flexible and highly professional, so if one of your favorite classic Russian dishes is not on the menu, it is always worthwhile asking for it. There are also three private rooms in the restaurants.

This restaurant is located across from a small park near the landmark Uspenski Cathedral. It claims to be the oldest Russian restaurant in Helsinki. The atmosphere and service were fine. The lamb ravioli soup was especially good. Beer was served as if it were wine: instead of a bottle per person, one passed around and shared a single modest-sized bottle... More

Very fine Russian restaurant in a slightly isolated area, but very convenient to the Marina Conference Center. The menu was a bit challenging, but the server gladly provided assistance. For example, a starter was translated as "Lamb pelmenies with mushroom sauce"; turned out to be what in Polish are pierogi (sort of ravioli-like dumplings), but Poles would never stuff them... More

This elegant neighborhood gem has been around for a long time (since 1917 to be exact). The atmosphere is great, the service is great, and the food is reliably excellent. I would recommend the vorschmak appetizer for those who like strong, salty flavors; and the blini with (vendace, i.e., muikku) roe is fantastic. If you are unfamiliar with these dishes,... More

Attended fur dinner. Prime I is excellent but too small - not a Russian way. The Blini are not Blini. It is thick and not tasty. The Borsh ordered by my guest was commented to be ok. Desert - ice cream with pavlova, was ok, nothing too special. menu is quite constrained.

Had a lunch menu with clients, and i liked it. I think the price was ok for Finland (29€ for 3 cources). Place is really nicely set up for the lunch, although it looks more like a evening dinner place. Had Lamb pelmenies with mushroom sauce for starters, and it was ok. Nothing too special about it though. Main cource... More

I attended a big family gathering here and we had a three course menu. I guess the food was okay, but since when is Crème brûlée a Russian dessert? I had expected something far more exotic. Also I got pretty offended when the server assumed that I was underaged and didn't want to serve me any alcoholic drinks at first.... More

I have visited Bellevue before but this time I was somewhat disappointed. The service was friendly and the atmosphere is good but the food quality had gone down. We had blinis as starters and they were ok. The main course was a big disappointment: somehow the fish (siika) did not seem fresh and the taste was not what one would... More

The food was great overall, but as a russian i need to comment that the food wasn't completely authentic russian. The steak was absotely fabolous and so was the borsch soup, but the pastry that came along with it didn't seem russian at all. The biggest dissapointment was the russian teaplate that came loaded with cookies that were most likely... More

Bellevue, opened already in 1917, maintains its charm. Friendly waiters are wearing Russian costumes and tidy interior could almost be from the times of Russian Tsars. Bellevue serves excellent food. Try Закуски, Russian appetizers and you get an assortment of marinated delights with different types of fish, roe of vendace and tasty meats. If you still are hungry, try braised... More
