We enjoyed our experience at Merimakasiini with an excellent three-course-menu of blini and all the trimmings for the starter, trout and rissotto for the main course, and a tyrni-flavoured dessert. All the three courses were of excellent quality and served nicely. We had booked the menu with Groupon, so the price was unbelievable for the quality (25 e / person)!... More

Had a dinner here with a foreign friend to taste some Finnish food. As a starters we had blinis, which were well made, served with sour cream, onion and roe. Size of blini was fine but I wish there were more other stuff. Main course was reindeer. Pretty good and specially cloudberry jam was good as always. Service was ok.... More

We were intending to drive all the way into town, but as this was on our way we decided to eat here. Very good food and really good service. A good introduction to Finnish food for our English visitor.

Seafood soup is just so and so. This place has seen better times. Service is good, but food requires refreshing.

Rocked up here on the off chance as it was a short walk from my hotel and was made to feel as if my custom was really valued. The young lady serving spent time explaining local dishes and with her advice I settled on a plate of freshly caught flounder on a bed of crispy vegetables with a mild horseradish... More

Merimakasiini has a remarkable menu. Unfortunately the quality does not fulfill ones expectations. We had the a la carte with sea food. The appetazier of mussels, smoked and the usual cooked in white wine were ok, but not thrilling. The main course was lobster. Again ok, but not delicious. The desserts were very good. Service was friendly and the wine... More

I appreciated eating seafood with a harbour view and discovered that rainbow trout is a truly delicious fish. The service was also sufficient. Everything else about the meal was subpar and overpriced (even relative to Helsinki) - the vegetables were undercooked, the sauce bland, there somehow managed to be no aroma to anything, and the restaurant generally felt a little... My wife and me went to Merimakasiini on a friend's recommendation. Fortunately we had a very nice sunny September evening. We ate 2 seafood appetizers, which were of really nice quality. Main course were mussels pot - very good, but bread or fries would have made it perfect - and a big bowl of fish soup - which was called... More

Every time I come to Helsinki, I always visit this sea food restaurant. It is located not in the centre of the city.It takes you about 10 or 15 minutes to go on foot, but it is a lovely way.It specializes more in sea food, but meat is always offered too.As for me ,I really like scallops and mussels there.Fish with green salad...
