Delicious food...

Some finnish courses with - surprise, surprise - lots of fish but also meat. Reasonable size of dish, and the price is quite okay. We liked it. Try frozen cranberries with hot caramel sauce if you can. :)

Truly traditional Helsinki joint, where good hot food with booze served ice cold keeps customer happy and relexed. The liver is awesome as well as beef hash and butter fried baltic herring. Here you might see some local celebrities and businessmen getting hammered. No music, but loud talk.

Sea Horse, aka Sikala provides great food with nice service to a reasonable prices. The dishes are traditional Finnish and I am sure, that you will find something you like on the menu. It is recommended to book a table, as the restaurant is normally crowded.

Went with a large group (10 people)...service was great, food was good, and the atmosphere was really nice. Would eat here again.

The restaurant it selfs started ca. 1930s and has always served a traditional Finnish food. Might be an interesting experience to taste local food. However we like the authentic & vintage feeling once we stepped in the restaurant. It felt like going back the time. Every details they have sort of reminds you of the good old days. Had their... This place serves the basic Finnish home cooking you'd get at any grandmothers house. They also have a daily changing lunch menu with a very basic salad included.

There is kind of stagnant atmosphere but in the good interesting way. The food there is always been good. I was child in 80´s when my dad took me there dinners sometimes. A decent home cooking like food. Not so expensive as usually in Finland around in this area anyways...

I booked this restaurant to celebrate my husband's birthday and it was perfect! He had herrings which were delicious, while I had white fried perch. We were the only non Finnish customers and everybody was very nice to us. If I have to stop again in Helsinki I'll make sure to reserve my lunch there.

So far, out of all traditional Finnish food restaurants, Sea Horse seems the most affordable and still has tasty meals. A good place to go during lunch, as mostly dishes (usually 3-5 options during lunch time) will cost 10-12e. They also have a really nice salad bar, where they serve salad with watermelon and their traditional sauce. Do recommend to... More
