Helsinki is a cosmopolitan city. You have no trouble finding Thai, Italian, Chinese, or American styled Hamburger joints, but you actually need to look long and hard to find a restaurant specializing in authentic Finnish cuisine. The Sea Horse is that place. As noted in other reviews the décor is nothing special, but the menu is hearty and Finnish to... More

Its funny how the photo makes the restaurant look so bright and cheery. The restaurant appeared less bright. The service was very good and the menu offered good options. To be honest, the food was good, but didn't have a special taste that I usually associate with fine dining. I am not a great cook and the food tasted like... More

Pros: Had the Cream of Salmon Soup - very light cream base, not too thick. dill was a bit overpowering for the broth but the chunks of potato and salmon were tasty. The reindoor steak was excellent but portion was a bit small. The reduction it came with was a bit bland and one noted. The meatball dish was very... More

Heard a lot about this place from online reviews. The quality of food is average and bland at best. It becomes a touristy place.

This was a recommendation of the hotel receptionist and it was a good one. Since it was unseasonably warm, part of the room was very uncomfortable. The area in which we sat had open windows and a nice breeze. The décor is nothing special, but the food was basic Helsinki fare. Our group of five had reindeer steak, reindeer meatballs,... More

Friendly staff, great salmon cream soup, Finnish meatballs and quaint authentic interior - somewhat touristy but still very Finnish. We went there in 2003 and today it's exactly the same! Prices are very reasonable. Make a reservation, it's full in the summer season.

The restaurant itself is hardly fancy, but the food was delicious. Best salmon soup I had in Helsinki and excellent fish with fried horseradish "Mannerheim" way. Good selection of wines to match the food. Service is very friendly, price is moderate.

We went there twice and had good service with good helpings of Lovely fish - entree and mains. Walls, furniture a little austere and I wonder if locals go there as tourists were flocking in, which does not create a Finnish feel.

Sea Horse is the old Finish food specialized restaurant. I use their services often. There are good home made lunch with a small salad buffet daily. Meatballs, butter fried baltic herrings and Wienershcnitzel are my favorites. Service is always good and friendly. You will never leave this restaurant hungry.
