According to our Lonely Planet guide, this is an excellent place to eat authentic Finnish food. We agree. The menu has plenty of choice for all tastes including several fish and meat entrées as well as numerous starters and a small range of desserts. I ordered herring which was delicious and plentiful - make sure you are hungry before you... More

An artist haunt since 1934, this restaurant is well known amongst the people of Helsinki. I wanted to go to a restaurant that served authentic Finnish food, and so my friend from the city took me here. I was not disappointed. I ordered the reindeer steak which was full of flavor and delectable. Cooked to perfection and a decent amount.... More

They serves Finnish food with very good taste. My favorites are -creamy salmon soup -Finnish potatoe mash -onion steak The quality have been same... More

I had a short stay in Helsinki and I just rocked up to this popular, busy restaurant, without a booking. Still, when I explained that I'm a visitor from far away (Australia), they did their best to accomodate me. They gave me a reserved table and they apologized to me that it's only available for 2 hours maximum. I was... More

Great old place with local drunks and typical Finnish service. Not bad but don't expect fine dining, this is a famous place with a Kaurismäki feel. Ample portions and good fun if you like to mingle with local drunks and artists... same thing really. Food not bad!!

This is a nice restaurant in the design district in Helsinki. The interior seems to be very much like it was when the restaurant was founded, in 1934. The food is plain and simple, but very well cooked. I had grilled herring and mashed potato and it was delicious. The pricing is very reasonable, especially for Helsinki standards.

After Reading all the comments here we thought it would be nice to go there for a Birthday Dinner with a group of 4 people. Unfotunately we were not really happy with food or service. We had different starters and I have to say after trying all of them, the vodka might have been the best starter of the menue.... More

Because of the high ranking in Tripadvisor, I came here in order to try the Scandinavian food. The environment was comfortable and you can have a relaxing lunch or dinner here. (They will charge extra around 10% for dinner service) youbcan find different starters, sandwiches, mains and desserts. Some of them were special and traditional, for example: Finnish meatballs and... More
