Nice traditional food, old-fashioned atmosphere

Had a nice reindeer casserole here - the food was tasty although could certainly not be described as modern, and the same could be said about the environment. Was a pleasant experience though and would recommend if wanting to try some local food.

We went here two nights in a row in the 4 nights we were in Helsinki in November 2015 and both times we walked 2.5 kms each way from our hotel because it was so delicious. In May 2011 we met a girl from FInland while in Thailand and we have her on facebook - she recommended we go to... More

We have been to Kolme Kruunua many times. It is a dimly lit restaurant that maintains a homey and quiet charm. The food is fantastic and relatively affordable as far as dinners go in Helsinki. A shared starter, two entrées, and a wine bottle were about 80€. We are never disappointed at Kolme. I recommend the meatballs!

A real gem of the city. Can't fault a thing. Food was great, drinks were great, hospitality 10/10. We had the reindeer tenderloin. A perfect ending is a glass of Jallovino.

This restaurant was absolutely wonderful. We went on a Friday night (last minute weekend trip, so no reservation) and they found us a table no problem. There was a man playing piano which was a lovely touch. The staff were polite and efficient. We had garlic escargot to start and it was delicious. My first time trying escargot and I... More

This restaurant is a positive exception among the restaurants in Helsinki. The interiors are more or less as they have been since the 1950's, with some modern facilities like air conditioning etc. added later. The menu includes traditional Finnish dishes, many of them rare to find elsewhere. The service and atmosphere are old fashioned in a nice way and the... More

we wanted to eat in a restaurant that would serve some typical Finnish food away from the main tourist area and we were delighted with our choice.

Wanted to try traditional Finnish food on our first day in Finland. Found this restaurant through foursquare. Interior is nice. The wait staff were helpful and pleasant. The food was excellent! We tried reindeer and Finnish meatballs. Both were amazing! The portions were big. They made sure you didn't leave hungry! It was a little expensive. But, that's Helsinki, and... More

Authentic old Finnish neighbourhood eatery in the heart of Helsinki city. Prepare yourself for big portions!

I feel a bit mean giving three stars. If there was a "quite good" category I would happily give that rating. The room is odd, with a one-arm-bandit and drinking area at one end, and the main dining area, with its rather tired and institutional tables, at the other. You can eat and smoke on the pavement outside if you... More
