Lovely Finnish restaurant

The place is in a nice and quiet area, but still close to the city center. Menu has just the right amount of items and it's so well done you might find it hard to choose what to have. Relaxed and homely environment and service makes the place so good.

I feel a bit mean giving three stars. If there was a "quite good" category I would happily give that rating. The room is odd, with a one-arm-bandit and drinking area at one end, and the main dining area, with its rather tired and institutional tables, at the other. You can eat and smoke on the pavement outside if you... More

A traditional Finnish restaurant that serves hearty, warming fare. Portion sizes are huge which is a good thing as the food is delicious. The meatballs in particular are great, as is the venison sausage. The absolute must try is blueberry tart for dessert - it is superb. Also give the chocolate cake a go and you won't be disappointed! I had lunch in this original, old style restaurant (one of the few left in Helsinki). The food is quite traditional and old fashioned in a good way. Service is very good and prices moderate. The interior hasn't been spoiled and hopefully never will be! Worth visiting!

Catch the No 3 tram to Varsapuistikko then stroll down Liisankatu to reach this wonderful restuarant that was well priced and served delicious traditional Finnish food. We walked into a cosy, warm bar area with the restuarant to the side. The staff were very friendly and could speak English to help with menu selection. The menu was in English so... More

This is a great place to take someone if they are visiting Helsinki for the first time. The food was very high quality and great for the price. Very nice inside, a little dark and atmospheric but you can also sit near the window and have a bit more light. This could be romantic or professional or just friends. The... More

I came in alone and was greeted by the friendly wait staff. The cosy old-world atmosphere was inviting as were the crisp table cloths and spotless wine glasses on the tables. I ordered the delicious escargo with garlic - these were piping hot yet tender, better than any I have had in wine regions of France, Austria or Germany. For... More

A friend and I shared the Russian cornichons as entry dish, and then took fried Baltic herrings as a main course. We were so full that we didn't manage to have any dessert, which is rare ;) But it was very good! There was live piano music, which played a teeny bit too loud. We sat for many hours and... More

We visited this restaurant on a Saturday night and were not disappointed. At first, the relatively old-school interior put us off a bit, but the staff made us feel right at home. This is more of a traditional than modern restaurant. The food however was great! We can clearly recommend the salmon soup and you'll have to try the traditional... More

Cosy restaurant a bit apart from the city center. The staff was welcoming and friendly. The food arrived quickly and was delicious. The blueberry pie was breath taking ;)
