Great traditional Finnish food

Catch the No 3 tram to Varsapuistikko then stroll down Liisankatu to reach this wonderful restuarant that was well priced and served delicious traditional Finnish food. This is a great place to take someone if they are visiting Helsinki for the first time. The food was very high quality and great for the price. Very nice inside, a little dark and atmospheric but you can also sit near the window and have a bit more light. This could be romantic or professional or just friends. The... More

I came in alone and was greeted by the friendly wait staff. The cosy old-world atmosphere was inviting as were the crisp table cloths and spotless wine glasses on the tables. I ordered the delicious escargo with garlic - these were piping hot yet tender, better than any I have had in wine regions of France, Austria or Germany. For... More

A friend and I shared the Russian cornichons as entry dish, and then took fried Baltic herrings as a main course. We were so full that we didn't manage to have any dessert, which is rare ;) But it was very good! There was live piano music, which played a teeny bit too loud. We sat for many hours and... More

We visited this restaurant on a Saturday night and were not disappointed. At first, the relatively old-school interior put us off a bit, but the staff made us feel right at home. This is more of a traditional than modern restaurant. The food however was great! We can clearly recommend the salmon soup and you'll have to try the traditional... More

Cosy restaurant a bit apart from the city center. The staff was welcoming and friendly. The food arrived quickly and was delicious. The blueberry pie was breath taking ;)

We had this restaurant recommended. It was a busy place with a lot of local people. Wine list was very limited, and the food was rather average in our opinion. But it was an really nonpretentious place which has been run in many years. Service was ok.

This is a real nice restaurant. They serve (traditional) Finnish dishes, like salmon and reindeer. The prices are reasonable, keeping in mind it's in Helsinki. I can recommend it if you're searching for Finnish food.

This restaurant was recommended by our hotel concierge when we asked for a traditional Finnish restaurant. There are no frills and the service is brisk. The food is excellent; whopping great plates full of tasty food. Very good wines. All in all, a most enjoyable feast. Recommend the salmon soup and venison sausages, they were superb.

Authentic old-fashioned restaurant with nice service, large portions and interesting menu. Especially enjoyed the pancakes as dessert.
