Nice atmosphere, high prices

FishMarket has a fantastic location, nice arhmosphere and helpful staff. We had delicios smoked whitefish and grilled sea bass that was too salty. The relatively high prices drop the points for this restaurant.

I highly recommend the three course meal with wine pairings. The price was quite fair considering how expensive Helsinki can be. My colleague and I both really enjoyed our two fish courses -- exceptionally fresh and beautifully presented without too much fuss. The bread was delicious and our dessert was a tasty bowl of berries with white chocolate. They have... More

We found this restaurant almost by accident as it's easy to miss being at basement level. The restaurant was fully booked so we took seats at the Oyster Bar which was a bonus in our eyes as you can see the chef preparing the oysters, lobster etc. We had a fabulous selection of tapas style starters on a Martinique theme... This restaurant has reputation as one of Helsinkis best for fish, and we can easily believe that. The menu has quite good choices of different fishes, from salt and sweet water. all is beautiful and tasty made with respect for the raw materials. Choice of wines are good for fish and service was also very good. If you are looking... More

The food at this restaurant was really tasty, and from the restaurants we ate in Helsinki this was the favorite of our group. The service was really nice, so I'm not sure what the complaints are from the other reviews regarding service. I personally had the lobster and fresh shrimp as an appetizer. Even the bread we were offered before... More

They made all the mistakes with the main course. Lobster was overcooked and the portion included max 60grams of lobster meat, five sweet potato chips and some green. It was pretty much the most disappointed main course ever with 25euros. Service was ok, but they tried to explain that overcooking was the ingredients fault. Starter and desert where Ok, but... At the moment they have a Martinique theme in the restaurant. We had the Stockmann menu at 39e. Honestly, I expected a little more from the restaurant. The setting is calm, clean, comfortable and Scandinavian stylish. The flavors in the food were good, but I personally feel it was a bit over priced for the quality of the food. The... More

Hidden in a basement, Fish Market is easy to miss! It can also easily be confused with the northern Italian cuisine restaurant next door, owned by the same people. My boyfriend had the set menu and I had the giant tiger prawn skewer and the smoked shrimps. For some reason there was no “main course” section on our menu (unless... More

This fish restaurant located in a basement close to the open air market usually offers relaxed fine dining. Their special Christmas menu, however, did not quite fulfill our expectations. The service was friendly, but this time too hasty since the house was full. The buffet marking the first course was pretty ordinary, and lacking clarity. Some very strongly marinated herring... I was treated to dinner at this cool and relaxing restaurant by a Finnish friend. Even though the place is in a basement, it was very welcoming and it was easy to carry on a conversation using normal speaking tones. We chose to have the special Christmas fish feast menu, which was really terrific. The first course is a seafood... More
