BaseCamp is a Nepalese restaurant nearby the University head building in the very center of Helsinki. The restaurant is very tidy, restful place with very friendly waiters. The food I had was tasty, but not exceptional. Anyway, a good experience.

We had dinner here and found out that the food very typical nepalese that you can get at many restaurants in Helsinki. Nothing special that stood out. Basic nepalese cuisine. The tandoori chicken I had wasn´t properly done, a bit raw inside.

The lunch offering of Base Camp is varying, very quickly served and large enough portions. We sampled all surrounding indian/nepalese and found Basecamp to be among the good ones, for lunch. I have not tried the evening menu, so no comments on that. I will certainly use their lunch offerings again.

Tried this place in Helsinki because we enjoy the cuisine and wanted something different. The food was fine and came to the table hot (which was a big plus on a chilly night). The dining room is cozy, but our tablecloth was dirty. The service was fine and the waiter made several good recommendations. We ordered a lamb and a... More

I agree with pradipd25 that this restaurant is overrated. My husband and I decided to give it a try, because the reviews here look great, but unfortunately it was a let down. I will focus on reviewing food quality only, so here it is: - I don't know what the name of the complimentary snack is, but it is way... More

Yes, this is yet another of the generic Indian restaurants that proliferate around Europe masquerading as offering Indian cuisine, when all that they can offer is overcooked, over spiced, over salted food that has very little resemblance to the wonderful Indian cuisine. Of course, they get away with it, because for the most part they cater to the gullible Western... More

We had samosas as appetizers and lamb dishes for the main course. I loved how the main course had rice, nan, dahl and raita. I usually have to order these separate. So it is ideal for those that are unfamiliar with Nepalese food (or Indian), they get a sample of the main staples that should be eaten together. We also... More

I've had lunch here two times with a couple of friends who frequent it during their working days. Each time I've had a decent and affordable, even cheap, meal with sides. They serve a variety of lunch options, always one for vegetarians and often suitable for vegans. I can't say that I have been as impressed as many people in... More

I have to have at least one meal from the subcontinent when I'm in Europe so I chose this place. Attentive service the moment I walked in - and they realised that I was English somehow. So, Nepalese cuisine. I didn't want to stray too far out of my comfort zone, so I tried the Nepalese potato aloo. When I... More

The nicest place I ate while in Helsinki. The meals seemed pricey at first, but unlike in England, when you order your curry all the sides (naan, poppadoms, rice etc) are included so it's actually very good value. There are plenty of veggie options and the food was really lovely, similar to Indian food in England but the curry was... More
