Yummy but not cheap

I had a lovely open sandwich, coffee and an ice cream with all the trimmings. They were all delicious and we managed to get a table outside in the sunshine - beware the seagulls! But it is not cheap and the system of having just one person making coffee and takin the money caused massive queues.

Make no mistake, this is the best pastry and bakery in helsinki. Others may have a better ambience, or atmosphere, but nothing beats Fazer in quality. We had a lemon cake which was awesome. Also the salad was great. There is great variety and you only hope that there is more help to navigate the place

This is our go to brunch place. We always try different places but afterwards agree that Fazer Cafe has the best breakfast kinda brunch. You have variety of Fazers homemade breads (gluten free available at the counter) and a decent variety of toppings; cheese, ham, eggs, veggies and fish. Also few salads, yogurt, fruit and porridge. Dessert buffet has loads... More

We had excellent open sandwiches and delicious cakes but it took an age to get served at the counter. People were queuing from two directions as it wasn't at all clear how the system was supposed to work. The coffee was good, stronger than many I had in Helsinki. The trick is to remember to ask for an extra shot.... More

The restaurant has excellent regional food. It is expensive. Helsinki is expensive, the boulevard is expensive, and Fazer is expensive on top of that. If you want to spoil yourself, go for it but sandwiches for five will cost over $80.

Fazer makes the best Finnish chocolate and very tasty breads and cakes. This traditional cafeteria in Helsinki centre has all these goodies, great coffees and teas, fresh salads , sandwiches etc. It is a perfect place also to mix with the locals : you will see side by side both lively students, and sophisticated elderly ladies enjoying their cup of... Very classic Helsinki centre cafe. Excellent servings, a bit expensive and often quite busy. But definately worth a visit and very, very centrally located. Very close to the main department store Stockmann and the Esplanade park.

My British and Australian guests thoroughly impressed till rudelychased away from a table that was reserved. Table had no reserved label, just a person name that could mean anything to a foreigner. They were chased away 15 min early of the given time "as guests had arrived early". Would not happen on a continental cafe with more competition and trained... More

And I do every time I'm in Helsinki. I buy some chocolate and I have a little snack (they have gluten-free options) and a coffee. It can get crowded, of course, but if you are walking past and spot a spare seat outside (or even inside) grab the opportunity.
