This was a nice swedish style restaurant in Gothenburg. The atmosphere was friendly, and the service attentive. The fish and seafood menu were atractive and the food was tasty, but simple. Very limited wine list. The shrimps had a different taste from what you get out of Scandinavia.

On our first night in Gothenburg we asked the concierge at our hotel the Elite where to eat seafood, they recommended Sjöbaren RESTAURANTS / SEAFOOD There are two of these restaurants and we liked the food so much we went back for our last night. We had fish soup and caviar for entrees and mussels and fish of the day... More

I have been to Sjöbaren at Haga several times over the years and must say, now when I have visited both restaurants that Sjöbaren Close to Avenyen is much better as concerns food, service and atmosphere compared to Sjöbaren at Haga. My Review now concerns the restaurant at Haga.

This place really competes with the few Michelin awarded restaurants we have in Gothenburg. Excelent sea food, with a local touch. My advice is to book in well in advance, because there is a very small place.

This is my second visit, this time eating outdoors in a very pretty courtyard. We three were warmly welcomed, with tap water provided immediately. The fish based menu is short but varied. We chose a mixed starter plate including a ceviche of langoustine and mackerel, a prawn based toast, and avocado and tuna. Attractively presented, tasty and good value at... More

Pros: The place is really nice, with soft lights, candles, quiet music. The personnel did not seem very sympathic at the ground floor (the bar floor) but was kinder at the 1st floor (the restaurant floor). The food is tasty, we tried the fish gratin, the mussels (impressively big!!) and the Wallenberger (disappointing, an omelette-like preparation made with fish). Cons:... More

Yet again Trip Advisor has served us well as this place was really good. Tried to make a reservation since it is not a big place, but nobody answered the phone. We went here for lunch and we do not regret that. The menue is not extensive, still they deliver good qality dishes. Also the desert was really nice. Staff... More

It was god once but not anymore. You can start to look outside and see how dirty the front is with bird crap all over and a impression of greed. Inside the atmosphere is cold with personnel that don't seem to care which is giving an impression of a fastfood restaurant. The food was not as good as it was... More

If you like fish and seafood, this is the place to go. The location in Haga is also very interesting.

A nice restaurant with high ambitions that are fullfilled in the old city, Haga. I love to sneak in for a bite even if it's most of the times full of people.
