Tonight we tried Smaka following the recommandation of the Lonely Planet. We decide to start dinner with the tradition haring platter. The waiter who brings us some bread suggests us to take a schnapps to combine with it. My husband says no because he doesn't like strong drinks. When the waiter insists I suggest that we take just one for... More

We had the share platter, it was super delicious and came out quickly. Three types of pickled herring, two salmon and five smoked meats - yum! Aquavit recommendation was delicious, sweet, and lovely to sip. Also had the cheese platter, which was okay, nothing to write home about. This place could use some Swedish cider on the menu.

Came here to get traditional Swedish food, and was not disappointed. Had herring plate to start, and the waiter suggested that I accompany that with some schnapps per tradition. Then the meatball plate was accompanied by a recommended local beer. The food was good and beautifully presented.

During a recent city break to Gothenburg we were looking for some traditional Swedish food and had heard of Smaka. This little place is absolutely fantastic, I really cannot praise it enough. The staff were friendly and welcoming and the menu, although not extensive was fantastic. We were brought a complimentary bread basket and ordered the Swedish meatballs...it had to... More

We came across this small, cosy restaurant near the Gothenburg University and decided to give it a try. It turned out to be one of the best dinner decisions for us in Gothenburg. Although the Smaka menu wasn't extensive, what we had was very tasty. I ordered the humble meatball dish and am still reminiscing over it, although I'm now... More

Good for typical Swedish fare. We enjoyed our food, only downside was the attentiveness of the waiting staff which could have been better

I would definitely recommend this place if you want to have Swedish food. I think the quality of the meat and the food is very good. The meat as far as i am concerned was tender. Also I could try Swedish charcuterie, things that I never had the chance to do so. Also, waiters were really nice and welcoming.

We wanted a traditional Swedish dish and Smaka did not disappoint. Meatballs, mash and lingonberry...yum!
