Quick lunch

This is an easy option for a quick lunch if you are in central Uppsala. They have an open buffet starting at 11am. At 85 Kr (75 if you're a student), you can try a few meat dishes and a few vegetable dishes. The food quality is ok, though it may have been cooked too long if you get there... read more

So far, they have the best Indian food in town. I have not tried every indian yet. I go there for lunch whenever I can.

If you really look for something special and you are not affraid of trying the hot Indian spices, New India is the place to explore. The buffet is quite fine, but be ready to taste strong mixtures of flavors. If you ask for the menu instead, be sure of asking the personnel the level of hot for the dishes (althoug... More

Friendly people, good restaurant. Make chit chat with the people working there. They are very nice people and go extra mile to cook that special food.

“Keeps sinking”, the latest review remarked in June 2012. I say: It has reached bottom, though it is still open and running. What is the problem? Don’t we understand in Sweden what tasty food means in Indian cuisine? More bland than at the New India it can hardly get. Greasy, tasteless, un-fresh. A disgrace for any Indian chef! I think.... Biggest seller is without a doubt their buffet, not a lot to choose from and a lot of cheap food veg, beans etc, not many meat dishes to choose from.

I love that this city has an Indian buffet. But the problem is this place has no competition and it's been sinking further and further every time I eat there. Nobody seems to care too much. It's always packed. But I've been to better ones and so have you.

We visited the restaurant for an informal dinner and we got an informal dinner. A pleasant server took was always at hand when needed, and otherwise unobtrusive. The naan was nice as always (though it could always use more garlic). My masala sauce was a bit tame for something labeled medium, though. A bit on the sweet side, it wasn't... More

Bland. In my opinion, that's a bad thing for an indian restaurant. (Also listed as New India Bävernsgränd/Kunsängsgatan Uppsala Sweden )
