Exotic and spicy!

In a cozy environment, down by the entrance to the subway (underground level), you find this eritrean restaurant. How can that be cozy, you think? The red stone walls frame it beautifully and gives it a unique atmosphere :) If you're into hot food, this is just the place for you. Their berbersauce... read more

We passed Je Bena at around 1am and were intrigued to find what seemed to be an African music club situated within Radhuset underground station. The place was packed and literally jumping with an exclusively African crowd (mostly Eritrean). Having travelled widely in Africa and being fans of African music we decided to go in. Unfortunately we were stopped by... More

We walked by this restaurant every day for a week or two, it is in the Metro underground stop, it doesn't look that great from the outside but it usually was busy. Our curiosity got the best of us and we went in for dinner. When we arrived early on a Saturday we were asked if we had a reservation,... More

I love Stockholm's metro and when our friends told us to go for dinner to an ethiopian restaurant placed IN a metro station I just couldn't say no. We got there by 9pm on a buzy Friday night and the service was pretty fast for such a rush hour. The food sadly wasn't that good. In my opinion it lacked... More

As becomes readily apparent when one walks around, Stockholm has a decently-sized Ethiopian/Eritrean community. Sadly, the excellent Ethiopian restaurant in Miami closed a number of years ago, so it is a cuisine I get cravings for when I travel. Jebena did not disappoint. There was quite a buzz about the place, with the Eritrean jazz just loud enough to be... More

There was no option to give this establishment no rating marks so I had to give it one but it doesn't deserve it. It is located underground in a metro station which is a bit strange but does make it easy to get to. The restaurant is filthy and the toilets are disgusting; the decor is sort of African working... Underground in a subway station is not where you'd expect to find such a gem! It's pretty dark inside with dim lighting. The atmosphere is quite intimate and cosy. There is a lot of seating over two floors. The food is just fantastic and very cheap by Stockholm standards. Vegetarians are catered for too. They also have a decent cocktail... More

It's quite weird to have a restaurant in the metro underpass. I've passed this restaurant several times for two years but only tried it now. The interior is quite nice. The food is authentic African food. They have quite a lot of vegetarian dishes too. Probably the best choice is a mixed plate. Be prepared to eat with your hands!... More

This place is Eritrean rather than Ethiopian and is tricky to locate above ground - don't be fooled by the Kingsklippan street address on their website - it's actually down in the metro station. If you are not coming by the tunnelbana but are at street level on Kingsklippan, there is a lift (hiss) down to the metro station and... More
