More Than Just Cocoa

I stopped in Chokladkoppen for hot cocoa, but ended up staying for a late lunch. Tucked in a quaint square in Gamla Stan, The hot cocoa is the star of the show, but the chicken curry on a baked potato gets supporting star status. The place is quaint and old-world feeling. Service is casual and... read more

We visited on a sunny Friday lunch time after watching the changing of the guard at the Royal Palace. The placed looked like it had character and the food other customers were perching on their laps on the square-facing wicker seats looked enticing. As there were no free tables outside we decided to venture inside. I'm not sure if I... More

It was a very hot day so we were not surprised that the outdoor seating was full. However, because this is one of my favourite cafes we chose to sit at the last table inside. We ordered 2 drinks, chocolate cake and apple pie. (I had the excellent choklad kladdekaka). I know the café was very busy but we had... More

Maybe it's just nostalgia, but every time I travel to Sweden, I find myself here again. There is something about sitting outside in the wicker chairs watching the world walk by in this beautiful old town square while drinking great coffee from a giant warm mug. This recent trip did not disappoint as well, as we were lucky enough to... More

Went for coffee and cake - 4 people - and tried each other's cakes out. Great location and cozy - low key atmosphere. Got a seat outside quickly which was lucky on a hot summers day. But there the luck ended. Our cakes were very different: A cheese cake which while edible had way too much cream compared to the... More

My boyfriend and I visited Chokladkoppen when we were in Stockholm last Christmas. The restaurant was crowded but we received our food fast. We ate sandwiches and drank warm chocolate. It was perfect! I will definitely go back the next time I am in Stockholm!

This restaurant was right in the middle of the town square. We ordered the salmon/spinach pie, broccoli/blue cheese pie, chocolate cake, and applie pie. Our waitress, literally, had no personality. She brought only two forks despite the fact that there was four people in our party, and we ordered four different items. She also spilled water on my husband, and... More

not only is the hot chocolate delicious, sweet and bitter like it should be, but the service was exceptional and friendly. The atmosphere is cozy and comfortable and the outdoor seating is perfect for people watching in the square. great way to spend an evening!! They also have a food menu with things like veggie lasagna, chicken pie ect.

We visited this café with some friends during Pride Week, and fell in love with the food! The cakes may not look like much, but they taste much better than they look in the window display. The presentation is incredibly nice, the portions are generous, and staff was attentive even though the place was always packed. It's very centrally located,... More

As a Swede myself and first time ever in Stockholm I had high expectations going for a coffee break in the old town. Not enough staff working, full inside and outside. Not a warm welcome, just a sigh when we asked if a table was free. Waitress spoke bad Swedish and looked extremely bothered and was slow. 25 minutes for... More
