One of the best restaurants in Sweden. Great atmosphere, friendly staff. Enjoyed the tour of the kitchen for the appetiser and meeting the staff. Strongly recommend!

I was o my business trip in Stockholm and has booked this Restaurant weeks in advance. The young chef picked me up and took me through the kitchen. We had a small bite at the kitchen then move to the dining. it is not a big restaurant. nice experience and they served a variety of nice and unique raw materials... More

We reserved the 10 person chefs table "matbordet" and were thoroughly impressed. Our chef Oscar did everything he could to accommodate the "American" guests among the others who were all Swedish (and wonderful as well). He did the presentation only in English which was a surprise to us that everyone was so willing to agree to that. The food was... More

We went to this place based on the Swedish press for the chef. The decor is very cool and the service was just the right amount of attentive. We shared one appetizer and then each had two plates of our own, plus a dessert each and wine. The food was inspired, very interesting combinations that evidently vary according to availability... If ever I can say that I was underwhelmed in a restaurant of such important title and reputation, it has to be the Matsalen. We were here for my birthday, and I can tell you the service was fairly poor and unenthusiastic, as was the food. My partner had advised them of my birthday beforehand as to add a little... More

This is one of four restaurants, all based on TA reviews, that we ate dinner at during our stay in Stockholm--we ate here on our last night. We ate at Matbaren with is the informal, open-dining room of Mathias Dahlgren. The Grand Hotel is most impressive and Matbaren is a very eloquent-hip atmosphere. Unfortunately, our experience was not good--perhaps just... More

It's located in an old an classic hotel in Stockholm. The decoration is modern, cool, trendy, dark and cozy. Good to impress a new partner. Although it's a fancy place the service is natural. The menu options are modern cuisine also made with local ingredients. However there are more common options to eat. I chose a deer's heart with a... More

This was really extraordinary. Sat at the bar with a business friend and had a great team service expense that was perfect, absolutely perfect, approachable and knowledgeable about the food and the wine. The menu is small plates, each of us had three with no dessert. A special that night was seared reindeer chops, like perfect lamb lolipops with crispy... More

Without any doubt Stockholm's (probably Sweden's, maybe Scandinavia's) best restaurant for both lunches and dinners. Amazing, superbly prepared and presented dishes. The interior in the lunch bar is stylish funky modern while the dinner room is elegant. An absolute must if you want to eat well in Stockholm.
