This was really extraordinary. Sat at the bar with a business friend and had a great team service expense that was perfect, absolutely perfect, approachable and knowledgeable about the food and the wine. The menu is small plates, each of us had three with no dessert. A special that night was seared reindeer chops, like perfect lamb lolipops with crispy... More

Without any doubt Stockholm's (probably Sweden's, maybe Scandinavia's) best restaurant for both lunches and dinners. Amazing, superbly prepared and presented dishes. The interior in the lunch bar is stylish funky modern while the dinner room is elegant. An absolute must if you want to eat well in Stockholm.

We went on a Monday night and the main restaurant (Matsalen) was closed. They put us in the bar, which was full and bustling. There were six of us. Service was good and friendly. However, the food was really poor. 5 of us had a special prawn starter, so bad they removed it from the bill at the end. Overall... More

Having visited Matbaren a couple of times, last nights visit was a disappointment. What has happened? The waiter was a stiff hipster, not listening, clearly not very interested in his guests. The recommended dishes was good, but not more. However interesting wines and a nice atmosphere. Last hour the staff was mostly focused on having us to pay and leave.... More

I don't know of too many Michelin starred restaurants where you can walk in at 6pm, and be seated immediately. I did get told that I needed to be done by 9. I completely love the concept of ordering 1 dish at a time and the kind of medium "small plate". Appetizer's have always been my favorite part of any... More

Everything has so much taste, sounds simple when studying the menu but when it arrives on the plate, it's fantastic. It's amusing to sit by the bar and study the kitchen in action. Friendly competent staff. Always a visit here when in Stockholm. Don't miss it!

In my experience, Michelin starred restaurants tend to fall into one of two camps: those that try to be cutting edge, use unusual flavour combinations and would be happy to have the buzz-phrase “molecular gastronomy” associated with them, and then there are those which serve simply good, fairly traditional food, but happen to have picked up a star, or two... Me and 9 collegues had a fantastic dinner at det 1 star restaurant Matbaren. We wanted to try the 2 star Matsalen but it was a maximum of 5 people raring together. The food was excellent. We were choosing 4 courses and got to full. 3 courses should med more than enough. Pricerange SEK 200-450 per dish. Some dishes (crab)... More
