During a recent trip to Stockholm, a group of us had booked a dinner here and, based on the reviews of the place, we were looking forward to an excellent meal – unfortunately, our overall experience was mediocre at best. The first issue had to do with the seating. We had a group of 8 and were crammed into a... More

Had the chance to pop in for lunch at the Marbaren at the counter and we took it. Great decision! The place has a modern bistro like feeling about it with a Nordic touch. Very good service and professional staff. Loved pretty much evey bite. The raw scalops with mushroom, great. Very nice deer tartar. I wish I could recall... More

My partner and I were on the waiting list for three different days at matsalen as it was fully booked a week in advance. We got lucky and were getting an email to confrim a free table at saturday evening. When you confirm your booking you've to give your creditcard number and they charge you 1 SEK. When you don't... Got a recommendation from Ira, a local guide in town hall, it was the best recommendation we got. Sitting on the bar in front of a lovely waitress, we ordered one by one excellent innovative dishes. Scallop carpaccio , was unforgettable , don't skip the desserts

We like traveling to the Scandinavians and we like good food, unfortunately the two doesn't go together, especially if you are on a reasonable budget. All that changed yesterday while visiting Matbaren, one of the best restaurants we have been visiting in recent years (and I must say we have been in some damn good restaurants). Food, as most "eaters"... More

We got in line for last minute reservations at Matbaren, the not-so-fancy choice to try Dahlgren's wonderful food (at 6PM) - they were fully booked that evening. The Grand Hotel was a great place to wait anyway. We got in and had an assortment of small plates, though if you think of tapas or dim sum, these plates were enough... More

I just had a bit over hour for a quick lunch so Matbaren was a default choice. Perfect seat by the bar, with both a nice view outside and possibility to watch food preparation at the open kitchen. Amazing place with a large menu of small/medium size plates, allowing for a nice tasting of their best dishes. I had simple... More

I have been to Matbaren several times, Matsalen once and Matbordet once - I'll try to sum up my experience in one review. If you was simple scandinavian food in a relaxed environment, this is where you go. The service is very good with attentive, friendly and knowleageble staff. The meny is set up by medium sized dishes, divided by... More

We wanted to go somewhere near to our hotel on our first night and as we had just travelled didn't want anything to heavy to eat. Matbaren fitted that choice perfectly. The restaurant is very modern and the food very good. The waitress was excellent and so helpful she explained that we could order as much or little as we... More

We had dinner at Marbaren because we wanted to experience a Nordic Michelinstarred restaurant. As prices in Stockholm are quite high, we opted for Matbaren instead of the two-starred Matsalen. We were a bit reluctant to hear that we should choose a table at 18h00 or 21h00, but service is so well organized that we had ample time to enjoy... More
