I have been to Matbaren several times, Matsalen once and Matbordet once - I'll try to sum up my experience in one review. If you was simple scandinavian food in a relaxed environment, this is where you go. The service is very good with attentive, friendly and knowleageble staff. The meny is set up by medium sized dishes, divided by... More

We wanted to go somewhere near to our hotel on our first night and as we had just travelled didn't want anything to heavy to eat. Matbaren fitted that choice perfectly. The restaurant is very modern and the food very good. The waitress was excellent and so helpful she explained that we could order as much or little as we... More

we were in this restaurant during our trip to Stockholm as we've heard about it so much in the michelin book and the san pellegrino so we were quite excited about it. It turned out to be such a disappointment for food especially. It had no taste and despite the several trials we had at it, it didnt get any... More

We had dinner at Marbaren because we wanted to experience a Nordic Michelinstarred restaurant. As prices in Stockholm are quite high, we opted for Matbaren instead of the two-starred Matsalen. We were a bit reluctant to hear that we should choose a table at 18h00 or 21h00, but service is so well organized that we had ample time to enjoy... More

I was here with my girlfriend and had a 8 course menu and was not the very least disappointed. One dish was probably the best I ever had (A truffles "cake"). The only "bad" thing about this place is the prices. A part from that - fantastic.

Booked to have our anniversary dinner here. Love the relaxed feel of the restaurant and the food was exquisite. Managed to eat 3 dishes and a dessert and the stand out dish was definitely the steamed pork buns! (A must for all meat eaters). Had a lovely light Riesling to accompany the food as well. Excellent service, attentive but not... More

We had lunch at Matbaren last week during our visit to Stockholm and it was quite nice. As other reviewers have mentioned Matbaren is quite small but it wasn't difficult getting a table through the online booking system. Nice touch that the restaurant sent out a reminder by SMS the night before. I had the deep fried pike perch with... More

We stayed at Lydmar Hotel at Stockholm so it's natural that we went to this restaurant as it sits next to the Hotel. We had a wonderful lunch w/ menu that really represent Swedish gastronomic. It's quite small in size that makes this restaurant an expensive one. We tried the scallop which has a tasty sauce and some local meat... More

Went there for lunch, maybe dinner is better, but from the reviews and for the price, it did not meet expectations. Common menu items to a noisy crowed dining room, I would be hard pressed to return to this place, The lunch menu was mostly variations of standard Swedish fare, except the portions were half size and twice the price... It was actually the perfect place for a 1.5 hr lunch. Prompt and friendly service, no pretentious, great value food, decent selection of wine by the glass. Water and wine were absolutely perfectly chilled. The menu's were sorted into regional foods which I liked. Not stuffy at all. Very cool but in an accessible and high class way.
