Viking Fun!

Yes, its touristy. Yes, its expensive (you already knew that visiting Stockholm) but the experience of dining there is priceless. We were the first people there, right after they just opened at 5pm, and planned on hanging out at the bar till our reservations kicked in at 6. But the gentleman who... read more

This place was great. My now ex husband and I happened upon this place while we were in Sweden for our honeymoon last year. It is A medieval/viking restaurant and I do not exactly remember how we were introduced when we were escorted to our seats but it was pretty cool to hear each guest introduced in a unique way.... Very nice place, exceeded my expectations actually, both in terms of decor and food / beverage purposes. The nagging about tourist trap among pundits but people the world over have always been fascinated by the Vikings and the Viking Age, Deal with it. A different and welcoming dispute in Stockholm restaurant world! Revisit yes.

We got here early in hops to get a table without reservations and we were successful! The food was delicious, unfortunately everyone ordered the chicken so can really only say that about the one dish!!! Haha! The portions were a little small for the price paid. Our waitress seemed to be having an off day, at least I hope it... More

The food was absolutely amazing. Maybe a bit salty, but stunning. I had the smoked salmon and my boyfriend had the venison. We paired it with Matzies (sp?) Mead and then had the berry pie and a cream and compote bowl for dessert. I loved the atmosphere. It was very touristy, but very well done. We were announced into the... More

Aifur Krog & Bar is a viking themed inn, with an incredible atmosphere and a unique drink selection. Located down a flight of stairs off of one of Gamla Stans main drags, Aifur offers its patrons a journey back in time. Similar to a medieval themed restaurant but much more authentic and less cheesy, this fun drinking house offers a... More

This place will make you feel like a Viking. The staff is extremely friendly and attractive! The food is awesome, and the mead is incredible. Do NOT leave Stockholm without going here.

Don't worry about it being corny or cheesy. This place is a ton of fun and the food is so much better than you think it will be. Try their mead and meat!

Before visiting Aifur, I had the general impression that it would be extremely cheesy and touristy. I was very happy to discover that the experience seemed more historically-focused than tourist-focused, and we had a delicious and unforgettable meal. The restaurant is in an old stone cellar, intricately decorated and completely filled with lovely details - viking helmets, axes and armour... More
