Gluten free heaven, with limits

We had to search to find this restaurant tucked away in Gamla Stan, but thank goodness for Google Maps. We had sought it out due to its appearance on gluten free forums. There was quite a queue at the counter (you order at the counter) and the menu is behind you. This makes it a little difficult... read more

Went here for dinner and the food was great, our first waitress was wonderful and made us feel very welcome. Unfortunately her shift ended halfway through our meal, and our second waiter was unfriendly and a bit rude. He could not accommodate our desert wishes to suit one in our company's allergies, even though there is a long paragraph in... More

This restaurant is hidden in the Old Town of Stockholm but we were really glad to have found it. The food is a tad expensive and you have to stand on a big line by the counter to order but the dishes are really good and it is not the wrong place to try typical Swedish food. We only ordered... I came here for a coffee, but they also had a large selection of cakes, sold by the slice. Very clean bistro. Friendly staff. They even offered me tap water when I asked for a water with my cake. Use of English is fine. Large selection of teas and coffees. I paid with my maestro card. Large selection of drinks.... More

I have been several times to this nice café: it is located in a central area and The food is good but unfortunately yesterday we have experienced a terrible service. we have been waiting for 15 minutes until the table could have been cleaned (the dishes from last customers were left there) and when I asked the waitress to have... The restaurant has an wonderful location next to a chestnut tree in Stockholm's old town of Gamla Stan. The menu was interesting. I assume its modern Swedish dishes. I had a classic thiugh; Köttbullar. Very tasty. There was only one vegetarian menu though. But a very good one. The staff was a little overwhelmed but very friendly and spoke English.... More

I decided to stop by this restaurant and have an early dinner. I'd read online that they catered for gluten free and I wasn't disappointed. There were quite a number of options including gluten free garlic bread and gluten free bruschetta (of which I had both). Both were.... excellent. Absolutely delicious. And the desserts - amazing. I definitely recommend checking... More

We were looking for a friendly, quite place to enjoy dinner at Saturday night. Since we had a baby with us we were looking for a place that was not too noisy with loud music and this was just perfect. We enjoyed a traditional Swedish meal, the baby was happy and could sleep in his stroller and the service was... More

I've been to this place once for breakfast. We ordered the large breakfast with yoghurt, latte and a sandwich. You get a big bowl of natural yoghurt (non flavoured) with the cafes homemade müsli (tasty!). The coffee was definitely ok (I'm very picky with this). The espresso shots were nicely pulled and the temperature and consistency of the milk was... More

This cafe style restaurant had fantastic food. The upstairs had a lively tourist feel, so we escaped to the basement, which had plenty of room for larger groups without loosing the charm. The food was very good and attractively plated. They deliver it to your table so you need not worry about getting around with it. Gluten and dairy free... More

Staying in Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen

Neighborhood Profile
Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen
Gamla Stan is Stockholm’s historic old town and home to the Swedish Royal Palace. It’s the most central island of Stockholm and accompanied by the small island of Riddarholmen, mainly known for its famous Riddarholm Church. Gamla Stan tends to be a bit touristy at times but is definitely worth visiting: take a stroll past the well-preserved buildings and through the small (and also Sweden’s narrowest) alleys, which will make you feel like you’ve travelled back in time. This neighborhood offers a great combination of historical buildings and traditional Swedish restaurants.
