Very friendly and good food

The day we arrived in Stockholm we decided to stretchbour legs and explore a little plus look for somewhere to eat we were lucky enough to get into this little restaurant. The service was good and prices were reasonable for Gamla Stam. The food was well presented and cooked all four of our group... read more

Found this lovely restuarant whilst wondering through the old town. Lovely and homely and friendly staff. Had Reindeer & Elk meatballs, which were amazing and highly reccommeded! Boyfriend had steak which was lovely and tender and cooked perfectly.

I just was at the restaurant for a lunch on Christmas day. It had a pretty nice atmosphere, up to the point where the waiters started speaking very loudly from behind the counter. The door of the kitchen was open, so at one point we were able to hear one of the kitchen staff yelling pretty loudly at his colleagues... More

Food and service was ok, but the meat was very dry and chewy (asked for medium). Toilets were very dirty and had not been cleaned for a long time.

Terrible dining experience!! It was obvious from the start that this place was a tourist trap! the service was unfriendly and beware of the extras! they make you pay for water which is for free in some restaurants in stockholm. if you order a plate that says on the menu that it can be shared for 2 persons, you end... Talked into our first meal here by the charming idiosyncratic Neapolitan Maitre d' in military combat gear as we paused at the outside menu boards. He described a Swedish reindeer steak dish and we succumbed, it was at least as good as he said. And the attentive service continued to the end. The invitation to start with a special garlic... Stopped by this place while wandering thru the old town. Set in a busy square in Gamla Stan so a bit of a tourist trap. However it is nice to eat outside and watch the world go by. Austria had beaten Sweden 5-0 the night before and a group of Austrians had obviously been celebrating all day. But, it was... More

When we first visited in 2012 we just loved this restaurant! We often went there for a good and affordable lunch. Just last week we went there again. The Italian looking guy at the door should have been a warning! The restaurant changed owners. And it has not done it any good. Staff was very uninterested, there where not a... More

They are very good at attracting clients and their location helps BUT they charge 5€ for water, same price with sodas (no tap water!!). They automatically charge you a tip, which is illegal. They show you quite openly that they just care about your money. They are thiefs!! AVOID. Keep walking straight and, 3 min. from there you have a... More

Staying in Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen

Neighborhood Profile
Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen
Gamla Stan is Stockholm’s historic old town and home to the Swedish Royal Palace. It’s the most central island of Stockholm and accompanied by the small island of Riddarholmen, mainly known for its famous Riddarholm Church. Gamla Stan tends to be a bit touristy at times but is definitely worth visiting: take a stroll past the well-preserved buildings and through the small (and also Sweden’s narrowest) alleys, which will make you feel like you’ve travelled back in time. This neighborhood offers a great combination of historical buildings and traditional Swedish restaurants.
