Cozy Café

Visited Vete-Katten twice during our weekend trip to Stockholm. I remembered reading about it on a travel blog and it looked inviting with the nice backyard, so we gave it a go. It seemed to be a popular place with both families, tourists, the elderly and couples. It is a traditional café serving... read more

This is one of Stockholm's oldest cafes, the environment reminiscent of sitting in your great grandmother's dining room. The cakes & various pastries are simply delicious, the best I've sampled in Stockholm, along with a variety of homemade soups, salads & warm entrées served for lunch, afternoon tea is also offered.

Really enjoyed my visit to Vete-Katte. Had a rainbow cake, the favourite amongst locals. This tea house is always busy and has a lot of seating. They even have a patio which looks lovely. I would definitely visit this tea house again.

We had a realy good lunch time in Vete-Katten. The food is really good. We ordered a grilled sandwich with salad, and we try the cinnamon buns and a shortbread cookie, too. It looks like a place to relax between or after work. We only saw one other table with tourists. Everyone else was local.

The Vete katten has opened in 1928 and still looks like an old fashioned cafe. There are 2 parts, the bigger part which is more modern, and the small part which is a step back in time. In summer also the courtyard is open. The cafe offers traditional Swedish cakes with a lot of marzipan, as well as buns, with... More

A heritage bakery with sumptuous pretty cakes in the middle of Stockholm! We were quite lucky that we can still order just minutes before they closed. What impressed us even further, the staff that greeted us had an amazing attitude, smile and energy level after a long-day shift. Unfortunately we can't eat there (amazing decoration and atmosphere) because they're about... More

This landmark has been in business since the 1920s--supplying Stockholmers with traditional baked goods (cardamom and cinnamon-flavored sweet rolls, cakes, and cookies) both to take home and to enjoy with a cup of afternoon coffee (fika). My bun and coffee (a latte actually) were delicious, but the counter service seemed rushed and almost annoyed by all of the tourists. Still,... More
