My cousin Birgitta and I celebrated our 60th Birthdays at this eclectic and wonderful cafe. I have never visited a place quite like this. It was comforting, cozy...and even the coffee cups were arranged artistically. We had sandwiches for lunch, which were innovative and overflowing with healthful ingredients. The pastries we enjoyed for dessert -- a strawberry tart and an... More

Nice wheat-free options, central location. Downside, very busy and queues were long on a Saturday. Friendly staff who were helpful despite our lack of Swedish! Clientele were mainly families with small children. Sadly some rather rude older ladies who queue-jumped and were aggressive dampened the experience somewhat.

I read about this place in a Stockholm guide so when I realised it was only a few metres from the hotel I was staying in, I thought I would pay a visit. It was a Sunday afternoon so was busy, so I had to wander round to find a seat. It was good to see some of the small... More

I worked behind the corner at Gamla Brogatan 1978. This Cafe Vete Katten was my "second home". I went there every day. They had that time only the old part of the cafe with old style furniture. I really have so good memories and I can even remember the smell at the door step when I now go in to... More

I don't get the other reviews. There was absolutely nothing special about this place. It could have been any cafe in NYC, San Francisco, Japan. It comes highly recommended but couldn't tell why. There's nothing wrong with it it just doesn't stick out at all in a city with 1000s of cafes. There are tons with better food, better seating,... More

Located centrally, this coffee house has years of pedigree behind it and serves coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and cake into the late afternoon. Worth stopping for an old style Scandinavian treat.

I like artisan bakeries and this is one such place. They do small "ordinary" filled rolls but also do really nice ones on speciality breads. The cakes are awesome. Really really REALLY good actually!!

This is an eighty-year-old café that still serves excellent coffee and pastries. Though the entrance is modest, the there is lots of seating inside and a lovely outdoor patio. As far as we could tell, it is self-service. You order at an indoor counter where you can choose from an assortment of goodies. On Kungsgatan near the intersections with Vasagatan... More

Great quirky cafe. Looks quite modest from outside but it sprawls around at the back with lots of hidden rooms. Relaxed and friendly. Good coffee and the cakes are wonderful - but especially the semla buns served around Easter. They are incredible - and bad semla buns are just awful so it's a feat to make them this good!
