Five Small Houses you will find in the heart of Old Town, just off St. George and the Dragon. You are welcomed into a superb restaurant, which is made up of nine beautiful arches. These extend over five house, hence the name of the restaurant. There is also a modern conference room and lounges that are often used as function rooms On the menu you can always find dishes like herring, cured salmon, fillet of reindeer and a cloudberry dessert. Our parade course fillet´t of veal Anna Lindberg, it is served with morel sauce and potato gratin. It is also possible to organize wine tastings as related to conferences or as completely separate events.

My husband and I came here for dinner, but had a cocktail at the bar first. The bar is really cozy with an old library feel (big leather chairs, books on shelves, candles). When we finished our drinks we went down to the cellar restaurant. It was a little cold down there, so bring a cardigan or scarf for your... More

Such a wonderful introduction to Swedish cuisine - Fem Sma Hus (Five Small Houses) is located in the old town of Gamla Stan. The entrace may be small, and you'll be forgiven for mistaking it for a pub instead of a restaurant. But tell the (initially) bewildered hosts that you are there for an early dinner, and you'll be escorted... More

The Fem Sma Hus is another excellent choice for a quiet, enjoyable evening with someone you want to share great food and conversation with. Our server was excellent. She brought us some authentic specialties that were so delectable that we ended up sharing a bit of our dinners with each other. <gasp> probably a major faux pas for business colleagues.... More

You enter into an unprepossessing entrance and are led down a series of labyrinths into cellars with an unusual and quirky ambience. The food is very Swedish with a great platter of herrings, caviar and cheese for entree. Our meals were very delicious but the service was first class. Very friendly, attentive and efficient. We would definitely recommend this little... More

Our last night in Stockholm we visited this quaint restaurant that is in the basements of five houses, which is where name comes from. The food and service was exception with an extensive accompanying wine list. There were mostly traditional means that had been at the restaurant for decades. It was expensive but worth it for a special night meal.

My co workers and decided to celebrate our five-year reunion at Fem Sma Hus in Gamla Stan. The restaurant is unique as it consists of five buildings in one! It is an historic building with loads of charm and atmosphere. The waitresses were pleasant and very knowledgeable of the varied meals and accompanying wines. All in all an excellent place... More

We chose Fem Små Hus-restaurant with my boyfriend for our anniversary. We had made a wish in our reservation for a window table. The restaurant was in the cellar so we didn't get a window table, but they had tried to fulfil the request by putting us at a table that was on slightly upper level and curtains opened into... More

Our visit to Fem Sma Hus was the culinary pinnacle of our visit to Stockholm. We had the most delicious. We split an order of the elk as an appetizer, which was delicious, and then had the reindeer as a main course. Both were absolutely delicious and the service was excellent. We loved visiting a restaurant with so much history,... More

Staying in Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen

Neighborhood Profile
Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen
Gamla Stan is Stockholm’s historic old town and home to the Swedish Royal Palace. It’s the most central island of Stockholm and accompanied by the small island of Riddarholmen, mainly known for its famous Riddarholm Church. Gamla Stan tends to be a bit touristy at times but is definitely worth visiting: take a stroll past the well-preserved buildings and through the small (and also Sweden’s narrowest) alleys, which will make you feel like you’ve travelled back in time. This neighborhood offers a great combination of historical buildings and traditional Swedish restaurants.
