Satisfactory in intriguing cellar jail

Enjoyed the food that was basic but satisfying for a hot lunch. Liked the venue more with its nooks and crannies along with a wealth of history. You order food at main bar near entrance and wait for food to be brought to your table. In a tourist area, and is touristy, but got me for its uniqueness... read more

Charming, and cosy we were suprised to see how good jt was and pricewisw it was better than other places in the area. But they can make a better job with the toilets.

Uninspired microwaved food. Not tasting of much. Cheap vegetable margarine instead of butter to the Laxpudding (the menu states butter, but nope). Sad salad served on the plate together with the hot (almost) food, meaning the compulsory salad dressing seeps into the rest of the food. Don't go here for food. Perhaps try their fika if you must.

Narrow stairs leading down to a very old celler. A very spectacular place to visit and it is easy to feel like you are living in the 13th century. Except for the coffee and cakes of course. The minus is the toilet which isn´t really up to date.

Cafe StenSture is located in the the old city. There are two entrances to it, when we saw the first one, by the lane, we hesitated to enter the dark and uneven staircase.however, enter we did to be greeted by smiling waitresses and an eerie decor inside. Quite an experience! The food was very good and came in very large... More

This was an incredible place to grab a quick bite and a beer. The history of this place is really interesting. It was once a monastery and then a jail. The waiter was so friendly and informative. It is really cozy and charming.

I love Belgian Waffles and went to this place to get a waffle away from the crowded main Street. The waffle was cold with a frozen center! Won't come here again.

Staying in Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen

Neighborhood Profile
Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen
Gamla Stan is Stockholm’s historic old town and home to the Swedish Royal Palace. It’s the most central island of Stockholm and accompanied by the small island of Riddarholmen, mainly known for its famous Riddarholm Church. Gamla Stan tends to be a bit touristy at times but is definitely worth visiting: take a stroll past the well-preserved buildings and through the small (and also Sweden’s narrowest) alleys, which will make you feel like you’ve travelled back in time. This neighborhood offers a great combination of historical buildings and traditional Swedish restaurants.
