Quick lunch in an historic cellar

We stopped in this very interesting cellar converted into a cafe for a quick lunch before touring City Hall. This little cafe has lots of character and is great for a short break. They have a special lunch menu with fair prices and decent food. Since the building is from the 1300's and the cafe... read more

Not expecting to find a cheap lunch in the centre of the tourist area in a supposedly 'expensive' city, we spotted a sign saying main course, salad, bread and drink for 85 kr or £6.30. We ventured down the steep steps into the vaults of an old prison to find a friendly welcome, attentive service and simple but very good... More

Sten Sture is very close to the Royal Palace and reasonably priced (for Old Town Stockholm). I loved the atmosphere, and the food was basic and good. I had meatballs and mashed potatoes (came with a salad, also) and a couple of beers. The service was a bit hit and miss, but when I was there it wasn't crowded and... More

Café Sten Sture is certainly different from other places to eat or drink, the building was 700 years old and was once a prison, you go down a number of steep steps, it's small but felt cosy, we were greeted with a friendly smile, only a cappuccino was only to be had and it was just ok. The toilets were... More

The building used to be a prison and has tons of history attached to it. The killer of one of the kings was housed here, and the royal history hangs on the wall, not only from the middle ages but from subsequent generations until the present. The food is gourmet. Very Swedish and delicious. Not only traditional meatballs and potatoes,... More

Awful. I should have obeyed my own golden rule never to eat at a restaurant in a tourist area (there is only one Stockholm exception but not this one) i.e. near the main square, Stortorget. The food was dire. The man who served us blatantly lied when he said their meatballs were home-made. No, they most definitely were not. They... More

It feels like a nice living room. The cake and coffee are good. The only downsides are that you need to pay with cash for less than certain amount and that the toilet is outside the café.

i had the baked potato, which was very good. Wifi was excellent. Staff were excellent, and showed me where to visit in Stockholm on my map, which I thought was lovely of them.

The soup was from a can and the cheese sandwich was two slices of store-bought, low-quality white bread with deli American cheese. The coffee tasted watered down.

This is one of the landmarks of stockholm, I think!the place is really interesting and unique in terms of its decor and atmosphere!I'd recommend their apple pie, bht ask it without vanilla sauce, they out it too much!everything else is not prison food)but pretty simple, so stay with a coffee and dessert)
