Pleasant cafeteria restaurant in Djurgården with lots of patina

Blå Porten is famous from several books, from writers' and artists' visits and also from tourists and locals visiting Djurgården especially during weekends. Traditional restaurant with nice atmosphere, not too expensive but almost always too crowded. It is good that it is not allowed to take children´s pushchairs inside because the area is narrow and the people with children usually don´t think anybody else but thenselves.

Forgot to mention this in my ABBA review. Tourist travel on their bellies. And this is the place to travel to afterABBA. Go left and then the frozen man will lead the way. It is cafeteria style. Quick sandwich or plates of lamb meatballs or chicken stew or soups. All is great. Put your coats on your seats when you... More

Bla porten is slightly unusual because most people eat outside and it's sort of cafe style. Small menu, but great food and a good less formal option. We returned twice during a week in Stockholm. No official kids portion but they will do a smaller version of menu options if you ask. Highlights for us were meatballs and salmon!

Stopped by after visiting the ABBA museum and enjoyed a very tasty lunch - a nice surprise. Desserts were good too !

What a quaint place. It is so warm and inviting that one initially perceives it to be much smaller than it actually is. The specials are written in Swedish on a chalkboard and typed on a page in English. There is a friendly staff member ready to answer any questions you may have about the lovely menu. Everything is prepared... More

Had an excellent fish soup with salmon and prawns and aioli. A problem was that our soup was ready before it was our turn in line to pay (you pay before you eat here), so it got a bit cold. Also remember to find a table before you get in line to order if the place is packed, or else... More

We weren't expecting such a generous variety of desserts. My kids loved the chocolate meringues. Bread was freshly baked, still warm. Food was tasty. It was self service but there's a waiter who helps. Ordering in English was easy and gourmet style presented food was on our tray faster than in a fast food restaurant. Very authentic place.

We have eaten here many times for two decades and love the location and the lovely yard. But recently the food quality seems to have dropped. Yesterday we had a fish casserole and my favorite, cod fillet with white wine sauce. Both dishes where totally without ambition, looking and tasting like cheap street food. And the interior is very noisy... More
