Authentic thai food in the heart of Stockholm

We really enjoyed visiting Siam - a small Thai restaurant in Gamla Stan. Authentic food, if it wasn't -9 outside we could have almost been in Thailand. The Tom Yam soup certainly warmed us up and then for main had chicken massaman and beef panang - both delicious. Added bonus Chang and Singha beer... read more

Came for a quick meal, found it to be pretty straightforward thai food, nothing special but fine. Very expensive for thai food compared to Australia but I appreciate they are probably more scarce in Sweden. The mulled wine was surprisingly good.

I have been going to Siam for many years now, mostly for lunch coz I work in Gamla Stan area. It takes time for me to walk to Siam, but always worth it since I get delicious meal and very friendly service. Been there for dinners, too, and enjoyed the visits as well.

We who visited, me and my daughters, got: wrong dish/price information, overcooked salmon (a crime to diminish the quality like that) and, at best, average Thai food and service. The main issue that made me feel like never going back is that the wrong price dish/price information was given. My youngest, a fussy eater, decided on the chicken skewer in... More

Been there tonight - I ordered deep fried squid with sweet and sour chilli sauce. Came as fried rings in batter (frozen?)with a dish of the same bottled sauce as on the table. My wife ordered sati but was presented with spring rolls- maybe our accents weren't conducive to accurate ordering and we were starving so kept them. Probably frozen... More

Siam has always been here, it seems. Every time we've been in Stockholm in the last 15 years, there's Siam, and the food is extremely consistant. There is something to be said for that alone. The food is very, very good. There is wonderful depths of flavour in the curries, succulent chicken skewers with super yummy peanutsauce - yes, everything... More

I've often walked past, been tempted but ended up going to one of the many Italian places in the area. We my mistake, Siam exceeded Expectation. Food was good, service was good, and a wide range of beers are available. All in a relaxed atmosphere. Will be returning here in the future.

Had a quick lunch here. The good part was the minced chicken salad which was pretty much like I've had in Thailand, and really hit the spot. But the phad thai was disappointing - overcooked noodles and just a bit lacking in flavour. So a bit variable in quality really.

My wife and me with our three aduld kids were looking for dinner one evening and saw the SIAM sign in gamle stan (Old Stockholm). With the locale suggestion everything Thailand isn't - we went for it - Why not? After walking down a flight of steps you find yourself in an underground cavern painted in dark red with a... More

Staying in Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen

Neighborhood Profile
Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen
Gamla Stan is Stockholm’s historic old town and home to the Swedish Royal Palace. It’s the most central island of Stockholm and accompanied by the small island of Riddarholmen, mainly known for its famous Riddarholm Church. Gamla Stan tends to be a bit touristy at times but is definitely worth visiting: take a stroll past the well-preserved buildings and through the small (and also Sweden’s narrowest) alleys, which will make you feel like you’ve travelled back in time. This neighborhood offers a great combination of historical buildings and traditional Swedish restaurants.
