From market trader to purveyor to His Majesty the King. It all began in the early 1920s. Fisherman's daughter Lisa Elmqvist traded her wares at a street market by the waterfront, and customers quickly flocked to her stall. Her fish, shellfish and cookery skills were of such a high standard that she swiftly moved up to Ostermalms Saluhall - the perfect place to allow her ability to shine through. Today, almost 90 years later, the fourth generation of the Elmqvist family continues her work assiduously from the same stall, gaining more and more experience and ambitions. The restaurant has recommendations in Guide Michelin for the last 8 years in a row.

Very good fish and seafood at a nice location

The food is well cooked. I had a selection of different herring. But servings was a problem. I kept getting bumped by one waitress who wasn't serving me every time she walked past. It may be because she is negligent of her body, being fat, or negligent of her fat, being unaware that she is fat so that her fat... More

We came here for lunch and we were not disappointed! Very fresh seafood and friendly staff. I had the "toast skagen", best I've ever had. We were a party of four and we all left very satisfied. Only downside would be the queue for the table.

Visited upon a recommendation of a local colleague who insisted we choose this place and not any other for our lunch. Three observations: Ever wanted the freshest seafood? It's your place. Ever wanted a champagne list that makes you break the resolution not to drink? It's your place. Ever wanted to find out what's so great about the slightly reserved... More

Situated in the famous Food Market Hall "Ostermalmshallen" with the high end food and restaurant stalls with delicious and sophisticated food all over the place you will find "Lisa Elmqvist" fish restaurant.Your expectation is of course high in a place like this.We tried "Lisa Elmqvist Fisksoppa"and "Moules mariniere".The taste was nice on both dishes but not up to expected level... This is a fun place in the Östermalmshallen - the popular and famous market in the heart of Stockholm. You sit among food stalls and you can see as you order your fish or seafood that it is taken directly from the fishmonger to the open kitchen and the Chefs who prepare it simple "clean" recipes, the Swedish way not... When it comes to sea food I just love Lisa Elmqvist. Took an American couple here last autumn to taste different herrings. They cleaned their plates and wanted to taste eel as well. It was a success.

Good seafood and interesting location in the old food hall Östermalmshallen. Lunch is better booked at Gerda Johansson, it the same restaurant lesser known number. 08-553 404 40. Staff has been around for ages and know their stuff. The full fried plaice with skin and bones, kapres and bethroot is wonderful,.

Recommended by a friend, we found this beautiful indoor market with heavenly food! We didn't book in advance which meant we had to wait 15min, on a weekday! That told us that it would probably be quite nice. We took the seafood platter. Lovely delicate taste and beautifully presented fish. The service is personal and warm. Loved it!

If you are in Stockholm, you really can't miss it!! We ate at the bar, but there are also tables available. The oysters and the smoked salmon were sensational!!! Great food, great staff, great atmosphere, I will definitely go back
