My friends and I have been visiting the Tavern at least 3 times a year for the past few years now when we stay in the area. We always end up having a random ramble/walk on the Saturday which somehow encompasses the Tavern! Our last visit was this past Saturday ( 13th September ).We did not book as we did... More

Me and my husband prebooked a table here for our wedding annerversary, stating it was a special day and if we could reserve a nice table. On arrival we were shown to a tiny table right next to the bar so we had peole standing behind us constantly. However there was plently more suitable tables free in the dining conservatory... More

This pub was recommended by the local B&B. On arrival our drinks were ordered and menus made available to peruse at our leisure. Staff were very friendly and made us feel very welcome. Food was served promptly, well presented and delicious judging by the empty plates! Prices were a little on the high side, but a well deserved holiday treat.... More

Despite recieving chips instead of mash the meal was excellent, well cooked, using good quality ingredients definitely worthy of another visit & just what you need after a long day round alton towers.

I have read similar reviews to how we felt about the place. The chef should be applauded. Ice cream has been changed to local producer as suggested they would. There needs to be clearer guidance as to what the protocol is in terms of being seated and served. It could be that more staff are needed. The prices are not... More

the pub is nice atmosphere and friendly with helpful staff. In general the food was good and was typical well cooked pub food exactly what we were looking for with a wide menu. The deserts were slightly disappointing, the crumble was under cooked but the range of deserts was great with all the good British classics.

Was staying in a nearby B&B and recommended to this pub for dinner one evening. Perfectly nice establishment and food more than satisfied our group of 5 so no complaints. It's not 5 star food but saying that it's much better than most pubs we frequent and the home made pizzas looked lovely!

We visited Alton Towers but could not face eating there at the splash landings hotel...so we used trip advisor to find this pub. Lovely ambience, traditional pub, lovely village setting, very very nice food and cost us £50 for family of 4 including drinks and desserts. Highly recommend eating here if you are in the area. Very very nice....it made... More
