Great Old Fashioned Food

We have eaten here twice recently and on both occasions the quality of the food has been excellent. We chose the Sunday Carvery, a choice of two meats, plenty of vegetables and table sauces and a brilliant stuffing that was to die for! Its only a small pub with a conservatory on the side to... read more

Came here just by chance, we'd actually booked to go elsewhere but the £40 round trip in taxi's decided to make us look closer to the B&B in which we were staying which was only a 10 mins walk away from The Tavern. What a wonderful place, it was a friday night and the bar was bustling with locals, we... More

We stopped at Alton Brook B&B on 23rd April and we phoned The Tavern and spoke to Chris (owner) to ask how far away it was from the B&B... only a few miles but he offered to come and pick us up. The meal was fantastic and the staff very friendly... such a great way to spend an evening. Would... More

Iv got no idea why any would give anything but an excellent review on this pub, Excellent food, great prices, bar staff and land lord were beyond welcoming and friendly. Had a great night guys, thank you very much for being amazing hosts (and joining in with the fun) Will definitely visit again. (From the Isle of Wight inbetweeners)

We came here to eat twice last week - would have been 3 times but they don't serve food on a Monday! We were staying at nearby Heywood Hall and wanted good food after a busy day on the rides at Alton Towers - we weren't disappointed. On Saturday night the pizza oven is lit, which our 7 year old... Visited whilst staying in a nearby farm B&B for a long weekend. As we were advised to book on Satuday nights, we phoned and were pleasantly surprised to be accommodated despite the pub being fully booked. Arrived to a busy bar, but friendly welcome as we were shown to our table immediately and drinks brought to our table and added... More

I am concerned that a review can be given about an establishment for an incident that happened almost two years ago! Not about the establishment but an individual's comments who has not been working there for well over a year ! This review is unfair in every way ! The reviewer does not consider the feelings and present performance and... More
