Lucky to get a table without booking.

We had googled this pub before staying for a few nights in Denstone. There was also a list of recommended places to eat in the B&B and The Tavern was at the top of the list. We visited on the 2nd night of our stay. On arrival we were greeted by Dominic, who asked us if we had booked. We... read more

Thanks to Tripadvisor we decided to book a table here. We were staying in the area following visit to Alton Towers returning from holiday down south. The menu offered lots of choice, the Homemade Steak and Ale pies were delicious and the burgers were huge and well presented. We all had dessert too which again were top quality and looked... More

Early summer holiday family trip out. We cycled from Oakamoor to Denstone along the old railway, with the Tavern as our destination. Great atmosphere, great food from an extensive bar menu, good service and just a quintessential English village pub. This is made even better sitting outside in the sun :-) We all went for Paninis from the chalk board,... More

Just had the most amazing dinner, thank you the wonderful New Head Chef Luke Norfolk and the Kitchen Team, it was delicious. Cherry Smoked Woodpigeon, 3 way Pork and Ballantine of Chicken. Didn't make the desserts this time, but most definitely I will have 3 courses next time. Very well done Tavern Team.

Just tried the new menu, absolutely fabulous. The food and presentation was stunning. Congratulations to Chris and the team for raising the bar and putting The Tavern firmly on the top of places to eat in the area. The Creme Brûlée defies description!

Out for a family meal. Had table booked in the conservatory but other half wanted to eat in the bar area! No problem to Chris, Dominic and team - we were moved without any fuss and with good humour and grace. What a team they are. Can't understand some of the other reviews posted! The meal itself was, as ever,... More

Came to this restaurant as it as recommended to me. I was quite happy with my experience, although I think the waiting staff could have been abit better, e.g it was unclear where we should sit when we walked in as he didn't show us to as table. The food was nice and there was a wide choice to choose... More

A cute pub in Denstone which we went to after Alton Towers. It's OK overall, but the portions are quite small for the price you pay. I had the pasta dish (about £13), and my partner a pie (again about £13), but the portions are quite small. Furthermore, the deserts (£6 each), were really weeny (we had two crumbles, and... More

Visited here with my brother after a very hot morning in Alton Towers. The fish and chips which my brother had he enjoyed. The chips could be a lot crispier though. I had olives, bread and oil which was very tasty. The only eating outside area is the tables out the front which do not have parasols. Far too hot... More
