An amazing experience in the wilderness

We booked our dinner and stay at Fäviken Magasinet far in advance. It's quite a trip, even for someone actually living in Sweden. After the drive over the mountain from Åre, we were greeted by the most service minded staff I've ever encountered in a restaurant. We got our room and were shown... read more

We booked our dinner and stay at Fäviken Magasinet far in advance. It's quite a trip, even for someone actually living in Sweden. After the drive over the mountain from Åre, we were greeted by the most service minded staff I've ever encountered in a restaurant. We got our room and were shown around. In the sauna, there was champagne,... More

One of the most valuable culinary experiences in my life so far! There are no words to describe Markus talent, he is one of the top chefs in the world at the moment. All 24 dishes was small masterpieces. Also the location is heaven on earth. I highly recommend it.

Focused on meat: thechnically close to perfect. Needless to say how difficult is to prepare a 27 dishes-menu in the middle of the snow. Focused on service: impeccable. Focused on accomodation, there is no other way to do it, to have to spend one night, that is the best option nevertheless......and focused on your attitude that's the reason why you... More

If you are considering making the trip to Faviken, don't hesitate. Do it. This was hands-down the most amazing dining experience my husband and I have ever had. Do a google search and find some food bloggers recaps of their experiences here to get an idea of what you are in for. I won't do the experience proper justice here,... More

Of course, we are talking about Hell, Norway where we stopped for a compulsory picture stop at the old train station. The experience starts with very scenic drive through the countryside of Norway and Sweden (if you have chosen to land in Trondheim that is). As it happened we were particularly lucky to drive through the mountain on the week... More

This in not the place to go if you need to ask the price! But what an amazing experience. 23 courses with different wines, chosen by the sommelier, for each group of courses. We would have preferred slightly fewer; it was a bit overwhelming. Each course was beautifully presented after a detailed description by the chef including instructions about how... More

We had seen a program presenting this place on the French TV and therefore included it to our Norway/Swedish itinerary. One can go for dinner only but there are 6 rooms as well and it's much better to spend the afternoon before and morning after, there as well, as the location and buildings are outstanding as well. Weather permitting you... More

I don't know, I guess if you're a non Scandinavian it's more special and unique this "wooden cottage" lost in the wilderness feeling. I personally found the whole experience too choreographed and even a bit soulless. maybe if I had stayed overnight I would have felt the magic describes by others, but I base my experience solely on the food... Headed to Faviken having been told by my sister about two years ago that she'd met a guy who worked at Noma who told her to forget his gaff, Faviken, in the back end of nowhere, was where the real action was but only Scandinavians really knew about it. Then, about six months ago, saw AA Gill's five star write... More
