I had the famous Danish open sandwich with rare beef with tartare sauce, beetroot, pickled cucumber and thin, crispy onion rings that were the most onion-y onion rings I've ever had. Himself had hot chicken liver pate with the most delicious moist rye bread (quite unlike the miserable stuff we get in the UK) and a selection of pickles. It... More

Our meal was delicious, the service and patrons were all very welcoming and friendly, and the atmosphere was wonderful and cozy with an old-world, classy type charm (if that makes any sense). Also, the palaces are just around the corner if you want to see them. I highly recommend this restaurant for an authentic Danish meal and beer.

I was at this place together with a colleauge for a late lunch. We are not from Denmark - and certainly not very familiar with the smörebröd concept as they serve it. The food was superb along with a good service and some suggestions for beers etc. The price was ok - defientely not expensive.

Whilst walking around in the freezing cold in Copenhagen we stumbled upon Restaurant Amalie. The restaurant was busy but they found us a table within 5 minutes. The staff were friendly and efficient and the food was good, we had a light lunch, I had brisket with grated horseradish and piccalilli and my wife had meatballs with beetroot and pickles.

Danishes sandwiches when they are best ! Restrict yourself to one ! Portions are big and filling. Try their beers from Fur and maybe try a small schnapps. In the summer you can sit outside. Otherwise the indoors will give you an idea of old times in Copenhagen. Service is friendly and quick

We loved everything about Amalie including the cosy interior, friendly service and first rate food. Excellent herring with one of a wide range of schnapps, and excellent pork tenderloin and roast beef too. Great beers as well. Highly recommended – be sure to reserve a table.

Lovely location - fine food and a decent pricing. We were 2 having 2 pieces each, which is just enough.

You need to reserve if you want to have lunch here, but its well worth it if you want to try really authentic Danish smorrebrod. There is a lunch menu for 259 DKK that inlcudes 5 couses: herring (2 kinds), gravad laks, fried plaice, pork loin fried with onions and 3 kinds of Danish cheese. I had a large beer... More
