First restaurant we went to in Cpn and wanted something traditional. Classy open sandwiches!! I had to have herring of course and wasn't disappointed. One plate was sufficient for a light lunch although they recommended 2 or 3 for a main! Washed it down with a lovely cold local lager-heaven!! Owner and staff were great and acclimated us even though... More

Thoroughly enjoyed our lunch here. We wanted to try some typical Danish dishes and these Danish open sandwiches delivered. There is also a large selection of aquavits to choose from which is a tradition of the restaurant and worth having with your meal if you don't mind something a bit stronger than a beer.

If you like to visit a place that offers a great experience with Danish smorrebrod (open Danish sandwiches) this is the place to visit in Copenhagen. Look at for the traditional smorrebrod and do not miss out on the "snaps" which comes in a large selection to choose from. I like to take friends and family from abroad (or a... More

Came here with no reservations for late lunch. The kitchen closes at around 5 pm. Best choice for smørrebrød. We all had two different dishes per person. Try the fish cake, it's surprisingly delicious and filling. No visual spoilers for the food, but the plates are really pretty. Also, I would go for the house-spiced akvavit. A very friendly and... I think this is a must-go restaurant, if you are just visiting Copenhagen. Great ambience, although I would not go on a hot day since there's no air conditioning and it is hard to get a seat outside. The service is attentive, although when the restaurant is very crowded the servers are a bit overwhelmed. Everything was quite tasty and... More

Schønnemann delivers the finest smørrebrød (open sandwich) in Copenhagen. Everything is homemade and the taste is as close to heaven as you get.

I understand that this restaurant is something of a local institution, so I was extremely disappointed in our experience as non-locals. There was more "ado" in making and confirming a reservation here than at any other restaurant in which I've ever eaten in a host of different countries. I made the reservation initially by email about 3 weeks in advance;... More

Reviews indicate this is one of Denmark's finest restaurants, a place chefs often visit, so my partner and I were excited to make our lunch reservation. But expectations were not met. All 2:15 reservations were seated simultaneously, so it was 50 minutes before a waiter took our order. By then they were already out of one entrée. They served only... More

The veal tongue was excellent, tender and nicely prepared. Service was very good. Portions was just right for us. I had the fried plaice, pan fried would have been better. Overall a good lunch experience.
