We booked for a late lunch. The restaurant was packed when we arrived so there would have been no chance of a table if we had just dropped by without a reservation. They make you feel very welcomed from the moment you enter. Please note table has to be booked in advanced, it's packed! Staff is exceptionally friendly and informative. If it's your first time they happily recommend what to order as the menu has a lot to choose from. My favorite was the Gravad Lax smörrebröd. Akvavit with smörrebröd highly recommended!

I've tried a few of the well-known restaurants that specialized in open-faced sandwiches, but this is the absolute best of the lot. And for those who would like to taste schnapps, they have a rather extensive menu of options.

Living the Danish open sandwhich concept and this was a great place to discover it Food was very tasty They even kept our bags for a couple of hours before we ate so we could explore the area before leaving there straight for the airport

For some time when I have come to Copenhagen, for business or pleasure, I have had lunch at this restaurant. In March, celebrating my birthday with my husband, I got the worst service I have had in my lifetime. Like always, I ordered two dishes. When the food arrived another server arrived with the food. Immediately when she arrived with... More

I have been at Schoennemann several times. And it never fails. Always great service and fantastic food. You have to book table cause they are always busy. Also in the weekdays where business people from all around enjoy their lunch break. Definitely a visit that you won't regret. And if you are on holiday in Denmark. You have to try... More

Danes get half an hour for lunch and smorrebords fill this need for quick tasty lunches. schonnemanns offers excellent examples but it is an assemblu line atmosphere with efficient but not friendly service. Order the Gravlax for sure. Good range of beers. Reservations a must which adds to the assembly line feel. Better service, good smorrebords and relaxed atmosphere available... More

This is traditional Danish Smorrebrod at its best. An institution since 1871, this restaurant only serves lunch but what a meal! It's best to come hungry - 2,3 sandwiches should be sufficient. I had the fried plaice as well as the smoked halibut. Also shared the Danish meatballs which came with a side of warm new potato salad. The tipple... More

Fantastic selection of Smørrebrød - both classics and innovative selections. They even have a seperate "tartellette" menu (unsweetened pastry dow cups with various fillings), don't miss out on that if you're in the mood for trying another Danish classic. The selection of schnaps is also quite unparalleled - but be wary of the prices as they are by no means... More
