A Must Visit!!

This is traditional Danish Smorrebrod at its best. An institution since 1871, this restaurant only serves lunch but what a meal! It's best to come hungry - 2,3 sandwiches should be sufficient. I had the fried plaice as well as the smoked halibut. Also shared the Danish meatballs which came with a... read more

Fantastic selection of Smørrebrød - both classics and innovative selections. They even have a seperate "tartellette" menu (unsweetened pastry dow cups with various fillings), don't miss out on that if you're in the mood for trying another Danish classic. The selection of schnaps is also quite unparalleled - but be wary of the prices as they are by no means... More

the food was good but the one thing that turn me depressed was the service. the waiter was not serviceminded and very rude. even through the food was good but the entire service experience was not at top.

We had asked a Danish friend to recommend someplace to meet for lunch. What a great recommendation! We loved the food (I had herring but everything looked wonderful), the atmosphere and the very cordial service. Made for a very festive reunion.

If you have one hour in Copenhagen, spent it here, to have beautifully prepared and conceived traditional smorgasbord open-faced sandwiches for lunch. The restaurant is friendly and quaint, with an enormous menu of choices, plus an extensive schnapps and beer selection. Smoked fish with sauces and greens, beef tartare, on and on. We went twice and wish we could have... More

This place was something we stumbled on using the downloaded TripAdvisor app we could access while not connected. My wife had the meatballs which were great and I had a trifecta of seafood: plaice, shrimp and copenhagen caviar. The stuff was out of sight good and fresh. The service was friendly and quick which did not seem to be the... More

We have visited Copenhagen several times now, and have developed a short list of places where we like to eat. On our most recent visit however, we decided to branch out and try somewhere different. That's how we came by this restaurant, and what a find! The first thing that hits you is the atmosphere of the place! We had... More

This restaurant serves traditional smorrebrod for lunch only. Almost all the other diners seemed to be locals, which is always a good sign. Our server was very helpful. He spoke excellent English and explained things on the menu. We had 2 plates each. Each plate is an open-faced sandwich. You get a large serving of whatever you ordered on top... More

We spent a long afternoon lunch here for a birthday get together. We did arrive a few minutes late and the first person to seat us seemed rather annoyed that we were late (not very much) which didn't seem to set a great mood at first but this was soon forgotten by our super friendly waiter who made the day... Delicious food. I had the Mrs herring portion while my friend across the table had the Mr version of the same herring. We both agreed , it was the best herring ever. Huge portions, I should add . The other two in our party were very happy too. Friendly and helpful service , the waitress even joked with us in... More
