I understand that this restaurant is something of a local institution, so I was extremely disappointed in our experience as non-locals. There was more "ado" in making and confirming a reservation here than at any other restaurant in which I've ever eaten in a host of different countries. I made the reservation initially by email about 3 weeks in advance;... More

Reviews indicate this is one of Denmark's finest restaurants, a place chefs often visit, so my partner and I were excited to make our lunch reservation. But expectations were not met. All 2:15 reservations were seated simultaneously, so it was 50 minutes before a waiter took our order. By then they were already out of one entrée. They served only... More

The veal tongue was excellent, tender and nicely prepared. Service was very good. Portions was just right for us. I had the fried plaice, pan fried would have been better. Overall a good lunch experience.

The very Danish experience, expensive and worth it. Our lovely waitress, Lea, was remarkably attentive, warm and welcoming. Thank you, Lea, for adding the special touch to that lunch! Will definitely visit again when we come back.

The selection of open-faced sandwiches here is truly impressive, as is the variety of snaps on their menu. We went with two varieties of fried fillet of plaice ("a Dane" and "a Swede"), the "Virgin's Midnight Snack," and beef tatar, and all of them were delicious. This is a great spot for an authentic and traditional Danish lunch. Service is... More

High quality food and professional service in a charming old Danish setting. A bit off the beaten track, about 10 minutes walk from Stroget. Guests were mostly locals which is always a good sign ;) 5 stars.

Precision is the order of the day here. We were surprised to arrive for the second lunchtime sitting (at 14.14), only to find other diners waiting outside...strange? Then the doors opened and we all walked in to find a perfectly set-up restaurant, with fresh white linen and sparkling cutlery and glasses. You would not have thought that they had already... More

The food is excellent here. If you are in Copenhagen and looking to try traditional danish lunch this is the place to go! Rather expensive though, but worth it! If you´re not driving and are over 18, you should order a snaps and a Carlsberg with you´r meal... just like the danes do :)

Schonneman serves only lunch in a beautifully preserved barroom with large windows that make it bright and pleasant. They serve traditional smorrebrod enjoyed with beer and aquavit, of which they have many including their own. Go VERY hungry; you will not need dinner that evening. Fantastic bread and even better service. There are two prix-fixe luncheon plates - large and... More

We went with our Danish Rotary Exchange Student from 18 years ago and his new wife. We ordered the Special Sampler at 375 DKK each. I was initially reluctant as I didn't think I would like Herring. Not only was the Herring outstanding but so was absolutely everything else. Make sure you're hungry when you go, so you will have... More
