We went there for a Christmas dinner 2014. Christmas time is the only time of the year they are open during evenings. Otherwise its a pure lunch place. All is homemade, all is of the highest quality, and there is plenty of it! This place is just shy of a Michelin Star, so that speaks for the level. The heerings... More

Smörrebröd and service at its best, with atmo to top it all. Perfect place to be at for a long lunch. Strongly recomended.

Excellent sandwiches and very good service. You have to book in advance to get a table here. They also have a large selection of aquavit. Charming interior.

Sandwich is simple food for many cultures. Most of the times we grab and we go. Our experience at Schoennemann was completelly different. We enjoyed our open sandwiches in a very elegant dining room, with excellent service and served on the most beautifull Danish porcelain plates. We had the one with herring, the one with grawlax and shared the one... More

I always go there when in Copenhagen, amazing open face sandwiches and beers with "en lille" is a must! Cannot go wrong if you listen to staff recommendations!

Smorrebrod is a Nordic staple. In the same way that going to Southern California requires that you find the best fish tacos, smorrebrod started from humble beginnings and is finding itself captured in the wave of new Nordic cuisine that has crashed upon Copenhagen. Restaurant Schoenneman is a quaint and cozy place for lunch with plenty of “hygge.” The term... More

My husband and I stopped in for lunch because of the Trip Advisor reviews. We are definitely happy we stopped in, but for a couple of open-faced sandwiches and one Schnapps for lunch we spent the equivalent of a steakhouse dinner in the states. We tried the local fare - including pickled herring and duck open-faced sandwiches, and they were... More

First restaurant we went to in Cpn and wanted something traditional. Classy open sandwiches!! I had to have herring of course and wasn't disappointed. One plate was sufficient for a light lunch although they recommended 2 or 3 for a main! Washed it down with a lovely cold local lager-heaven!! Owner and staff were great and acclimated us even though... More

Thoroughly enjoyed our lunch here. We wanted to try some typical Danish dishes and these Danish open sandwiches delivered. There is also a large selection of aquavits to choose from which is a tradition of the restaurant and worth having with your meal if you don't mind something a bit stronger than a beer.
