You walk down a few stairs and discard maybe 200 years. There's a small front room where you pick up your basket and bread, a slab or two of traditional Danish breads, and your basic meat foundation. You then head down into the Salad Room where you add your choice of a variety of additives. You can then go take-... More

We were headed to another restaurant in Grey Friar's Square but were drawn to this charming eatery instead by the design-your-own-sandwich offerings. We chose turkey and emmenthaler although a variety of sausages was also available. The selection of artisan-type breads was wonderful and the accompanying salad bar was fresh and varied. A soft drink or premium bottled water is included... More

No pretensions this place, just a build-your-own-sandwich joint, but everything is right. The prices are decent (with a further discount for ISIC student card holders), good service, excellent ingredients and a beautiful situation from which to sit and watch the world go by. An authentic Danish experience.

Nice authentic place with a simple but successful concept. Decide which kind of bread, salami and cheese you want and then build the rest from the salad buffet. You can't really go wrong with the fresh ingredients they provide!

This place is famous for their build-your-own-sandwich concept. Basically you buy a big bun and some filling (cheese and a meat such as chorizo) and then you go to the salad buffet and fill in as much of the delicious veggies as you can fit. Everything from mini-gherkins to rocket salad to guacamole. The atmosphere is quite bohemian and when... More

Neighborhood Profile
Indre By (Inner City)
This is the heart of old town Copenhagen, with its blend of charming old buildings and bold new architecture, broad avenues and tiny streets as well as picturesque canals and a modern harbor. The inner city is home to the Royal Danish Theatre, which consists of three buildings, two of which are new and situated on the harbor front. The streets, squares and venues of the inner city and its surrounding neighborhoods, are alive all year round with everything from jazz festivals to outdoor ice skating rinks and parachuting at the lakes right in the center of the city. This compact area boasts beautiful old castles, tranquil parks, and bustling squares where you can always find a bench to stretch out your legs whenever you need a break.
