Old style Danish food

This restaurant focuses on traditional foods like duck, herring, veal cutlet and beef dishes. The service is decent if a bit perfunctory. The rooms are ancient and interesting. The courtyard tables are the most sought after. Popular so try to reserve in advance.

My wife and I ate dinner here with another couple attending a conference. We arrived at about 6:30 and even though we did not have a reservation this seemed to be an advantage as we were seated immediately and had an entire room to ourselves throughout our meal. Our waiter was very cordial and took the time to give us... More

I read a lot of good reviews of this place but I was not at all impressed. The wine list was horrible, not much to choose from at all. They did have a few interesting cocktails though. The food was just 'ok', it definitely did not live up to the hype. The restaurant itself is lovely, very historical and nicely... More

First of all, just the atmosphere in the restaurant is just amazing - the decor is beautiful, and the romance of eating in a restaurant that old (although the food is not) was incredible. The food is VERY good and VERY freshly and carefully prepared, and the waitstaff was just wonderful - extremely friendly and taught me the proper danish... More

We had a catfish-filet and a variation of danish and french cheese. Everything fitted. The food was outstandingly delicious! A real sensation of taste! The waiters were perfectly friendly and polite. Their English and German were perfect. When they recognised we spoke German at the table they switched to German too. A high-level restaurant! Central and pittoresque and with excellent... More

Service is usually at the top of my list of priorities, and while this restaurant's is competent, it is not the reason it stands out. It's a genuine old Danish inn - its interior has seen very little changes in at least 25 years - with an incredible atmosphere. Small 'rooms' with only a few tables ensure the place never... More

The restaurant has undeniable atmosphere, and staff attitude helps making you relax and enjoy the feeling of going back in time. Amongst the other diners, several obviously have the restaurant as a favourite to return to. The menu offers the traditional cuisine. I would not recommend adherents of New French Cuisine to visit, unless they look to be converted to... More

A must to be seen, the OLD KRO from 1683. The menu is newer and is a mix of classic Danish "Kro menus" and more modern touch. The service could have been more observant. 3 footmen serving seven tables on a quiet Sunday evening, should give you both water and bread with out asking twice. And when you speak a... More

Old building (1600s) is a nice setting for a Danish meal. Multiple small rooms. Waiters in black and white. English and Danish menu. Had herring appetizer which was good and when waiter brought the Schnitzel we both said at the same time---it is what it is...and it was a great piece of Wiener schnitzel! No wine choice for a glass... More

I here the buffet with free drinks which was very good! They have a big selection and the food is nicely prepared and fresh. The selection is very danish but also with a twist of dishes we have adopted from other countries over the years. You can eat and drink as much as you want for a very reasonable price.... More
