Delicious food, excellent service, cool atmosphere

This is my new favorite restaurant in Denmark. The food was so good that we went there twice in two days. It's the old-times traditional Danish food that is not easily found in Copenhagen. The concept of the building is really cool, too - they have kept the old building and its courtyard and... read more

The concept of the building is really cool, too - they have kept the old building and its courtyard and enclosed it in another, newer building... More

Other reviews here rate the food very highly. Our group ordered five different appetizers and entrees, and yet the consensus was that it was simply well prepared but not exciting. I will give kudos to the crème brûlée: it was probably the best I've had. But the other dishes were not really memorable. I liked everything else about this restaurant.... More

Rated highly for Odense, but this is truly a world-class cuisine. I thought so highly of it that I am writing this review while I am still finishing my meal. I chose the 4-course monthly menu, which was outstanding. You will not be disappointed if you are a 'foodie'. I chose a St-Emilion 2006 Grand Cru to go with the... More

The restaurant was recommended by the hotel we stayed, and as there weren't any dinner options nearby we visited it, despite expected high prices. The decor is very nice with glass like polished copper dishes and oven, food was not bad, but I found it overpriced anyway, even for expensive Denmark. If the prices would be less, I'd rate it... Great food, great service and a nice atmosphere. I would consider Den Gamle Kro one of the best restaurants in Odense, whether you are entertaining family and friends or for bussiness.

We have been to Den Gamle Kro several times, and the latest time will not be the last. The staff takes very good care of us from the first minute. The food is every time a great experience. Absolute recommendable in all respects.

Atmosphere: lovely, old charm, unique. Staff: very friendly, great service. Food: Best beef tenderloin I've EVER had.. And I'm from Alberta Canada! We are known for our beef. Beautifully served, flambeed at table side, with a delicious house made peppercorn sauce.

Fantastic traditional/ecological food in a fascinating frame. We are always supprised at the faultless quality and wide variety of dishes the ever plesant staff is presenting. Every time we visit Odense this is a must, our visit would not be complete otherwise. Enter the historic doorway and allow your eyes to take in a built-over courtyard setting you back hundreds... A unique building with character welcomed us to this very nice restaurant. A warm greeting was provided to both our Danish hosts and English guests and the staff provided an excellent and friendly service throughout the evening. Not speaking Danish the multi-lingual menu proved very helpful in making my selection from a comprehensive menu. All dishes were presented very nicely... More

We had lunch here. An very old kro (Danish restaurant) in the city centre. The historic location is worth to visit. The portions are small thou. One slice of rye bread with 3 sliced of cheese. My partner had a portion of cream cheese with 1 toasted slice of bread. The quality was not different from the supermarket. The majority... More
