Wiener Schnitzel is what it is

Old building (1600s) is a nice setting for a Danish meal. Multiple small rooms. Waiters in black and white. English and Danish menu. Had herring appetizer which was good and when waiter brought the Schnitzel we both said at the same time---it is what it is...and it was a great piece of Wiener... read more

I here the buffet with free drinks which was very good! They have a big selection and the food is nicely prepared and fresh. The selection is very danish but also with a twist of dishes we have adopted from other countries over the years. You can eat and drink as much as you want for a very reasonable price.... More

we asked at our hotel for a traditional Danish meal and they recommended this restaurant. The setting is an old Danish Inn and it had a beautiful atmosphere. The food was very good and we enjoyed it a lot.

This is my new favorite restaurant in Denmark. The food was so good that we went there twice in two days. It's the old-times traditional Danish food that is not easily found in Copenhagen. The concept of the building is really cool, too - they have kept the old building and its courtyard and enclosed it in another, newer building... More

Other reviews here rate the food very highly. Our group ordered five different appetizers and entrees, and yet the consensus was that it was simply well prepared but not exciting. I will give kudos to the crème brûlée: it was probably the best I've had. But the other dishes were not really memorable. I liked everything else about this restaurant.... More

Rated highly for Odense, but this is truly a world-class cuisine. I thought so highly of it that I am writing this review while I am still finishing my meal. I chose the 4-course monthly menu, which was outstanding. You will not be disappointed if you are a 'foodie'. I chose a St-Emilion 2006 Grand Cru to go with the... More

The restaurant was recommended by the hotel we stayed, and as there weren't any dinner options nearby we visited it, despite expected high prices. The decor is very nice with glass like polished copper dishes and oven, food was not bad, but I found it overpriced anyway, even for expensive Denmark. If the prices would be less, I'd rate it... Great food, great service and a nice atmosphere. I would consider Den Gamle Kro one of the best restaurants in Odense, whether you are entertaining family and friends or for bussiness.

We have been to Den Gamle Kro several times, and the latest time will not be the last. The staff takes very good care of us from the first minute. The food is every time a great experience. Absolute recommendable in all respects.

Atmosphere: lovely, old charm, unique. Staff: very friendly, great service. Food: Best beef tenderloin I've EVER had.. And I'm from Alberta Canada! We are known for our beef. Beautifully served, flambeed at table side, with a delicious house made peppercorn sauce.
