A Dream Location

The Taverna is situated over Kamini Bay, less than a mile from Hydra Centre. It offers spectacular sunsets and very good food. It is very popular at weekends and it might be necessary to book. For tourists interested in the preparation of their dishes, access to the kitchen is simple. I would... read more

Beautiful position on a small harbor . You seat on a little terrace above the sea . Very basic but very good food. Don't read the menu . Just go inside , see the lady who run the place and see in from of you what you can eat that day . Try what will inspire you . You will... More

We walked round the cliff opposite the port and after 15 minutes lovely walk along the sea discovered this attractive restaurant high up overlooking the tiny harbour below. The owner of our hotel was eating here too and recommended us to try the calamari, since it is fished locally and particularly good and sweet. It was delicious and very tender.... More

Every time we visit this magic island we always book a table at Kodylenia: the only tavern where you can find the real recipes that you could eat only if you had your grandmother cooking in a Greek village. The traditional exposition of trays with Greek specialities in the warm showcase of Kodylenia to us is like a “passarella of... More

We were lucky to visit this place not in high season so this offer us good and fresh food. We have been twice for lunch and we were not disappointed. We had the xoriatiki salad, fava, fresh squid and fresh fish. Everything was very tasty and the view is amazing. About the service, the person that serve us was polite... More

No need to repeat all that has been said by previous raters. I agree with most of it. My headline summarises pretty well: enjoyed the view, food & wine, the waitresses were friendly and somewhat more attentive, the waiter (and he is not the owner or head waiter, I asked!) didn't bother smiling or being friendly. But he couldn't spoil... More

Very nice, not pretentional, family owned restaurant. You can start from visiting kitchen and choosing your meal from display. We have been there twice, always everything tasted very good. And we tried 3 kinds of delicious local fish, amazing lamb and various hot starters. In the eveńing you can enjoy sunset observing small port and after dinner have lovely walk on... More

We came here for lunch by default, as our two previous choices were closed. We should have heeded the negative comments on Tripadvisor. Unfortunately, the owner appears disinterested in casual visitors and surveys the scene from the kitchen steps with a complacent air. The head waiter is monosyllabic and unsmiling...... The food is simple, but adequate taverna fare and the... More

Low season so not many options. Swam in beautiful bay below this café so naturally we had a beer and ate here. Grumpy owner waiter wasn't going to ruin this gorgeous day and gorgeous location. I just kindly kept pushing him and found I got exactly the perfect seafood lunch of octopus, eggplant and cold beer. Very happy customer and... More
