We've been coming to the Katoghi for a couple of years now, but only just got round to writing a review. Very tardy of us! Because it's great. Set high up in the hills, so a bit cooler in the heat of summer, this taverna is a little gem. A mixture of Greek and British food, freshly prepared and cooked... More

The place is a hidden gem, it is worth driving from any spot on the island. The village of Vafkeri is about 1000m above the sea level and has great views. There are almost no people in the village, it's like a ghost town, you'll find The Kathogi in absolute tranquility. Peter is a great host and provided us with... More

We originally planned to lunch here after driving from Agios Nikitas on the way to the waterfalls at Nidri, but we hadn't realised they close on Mondays (Peter and Alison's well-deserved day off). When we did finally get there, though, we weren't disappointed. Great view, great service, great value, and (above all) great food. We booked on the spot for... More

We drove here from Nikiana on a recommendation. It took 40 minutes up the winding roads but once you arrive the setting and views alone are worth it. But when you get the food, you are blown away. The place is tiny and run by a husband and wife who are extremely friendly, welcoming and make you feel like you... More

We stopped off in Vafkeri especially to pay a visit to The Katoghi last night. It's a small open air place with a handful of tables and a lovely leafy canopy with tea lights dotted around - a really nice setting. We had a really nice welcome from Peter who outlined what was and wasn't available on that night's menu... More

Truly wonderful, just visit! Delicious home cooked food, roasted tomatoes amazing, tzatziki like you've never tasted and melt in the mouth stifado and fillet steak. Perfect surroundings and lovely hosts. Fabulous!

We drove across the island and across the mountains to eat at the Kathoghi. The trip through the tiny, winding mountain roads are not for the skittish passenger. I'm not sure I would want to do it at night after a few glasses of tsipouro. That said, we had a terrific meal. We had lentil soup, roasted tomatoes, garlicky shrimp,... More
