We were on holiday at the ens of October 2014 and found this amazing restaurant to eat in. We went inside and received a warm welcome from a very funny and friendly man. It was raining at the time so we were not able to sit outside to watch the coming and goings of the small harbor. The setting is... More

We were just walking around the old harbour after 10.00 pm, on our last night in Rethymno, after having already eaten, when Stavros thrust a glass of raki each into our hands and invited us to sit at a spare table. Never ones to refuse a free drink, we accepted his invitation and for the next 90 minutes or so... More

This is an incredible little place where they make you feal at home, have the family members cook for you, serve you, sing to you, play strings instruments for you, and charge you very little after they have treated you to freee fruit and raki at the end of every meal. The Cretan food is absolutely authentic (I have been... More

We were greeted warmly by the owner and were seated at a table right along the harbor. My husband and I ordered the grilled fish for 2 which included bread, knossos salad, grilled potatoes, fish (whole or fillet), and wine. Everything was fresh, delicious and super tasty! We even were entertained by the owners brother who sang for us and... More

it seems you need to go to a Greek island - and not all of them! - to enjoy freshly fished seafood. What I mostly enjoyed were the mussels, cooked with a house recipe, but it was also nice to sit at a table so near the sea that you could see the fish swimming below. By the way, everything... More

We have visited this taverna based on recommendations of several sources.unfortunately it was total disapointment.food is expensive and not worse money.fish was burned, they have forgot to bring salad which was on menu of 50eur!!! It seems they give preference to Greeks, which were served much faster... We also had problem with payment with credit card. Not worse visiting

This is my 2nd time at the taverna of Maria and Stavros...the location is just magnificent, right at the old Venetian port, which gives a strong nostalgic feeling about times that will never come back...the tavern has an original, authentic decor comprising of wonderful colours and smells which they only appear in old-style retro advertising...only this is original and not... The position is nice even if not very comfortable, but we ate the best fish in Crete. The owner is a very kind woman who, with her two kids, serves perfectly and quickly all the tables, even in rush hour. A place to be tried. Instead of watermelon (the usual sweet gift at the end of the dinner) we were... More

One of the staff at our accommodation recommended this restaurant personally, saying it was the best value and best food out of all the otherwise overpriced restaurants around the harbour. The menu was limited and whilst quite cheap for drinks and starters, the fresh fish which I ordered was €18. My wife ordered Stuffed Vine leaves to start and pork... More

This is a great tiny taverna. Great service. Good history and family ties to this little, but wonderful place. Sandwiched between Zephyros and the Seven Brothers tavernas, this place is a little diamond. YOU MUST VISIT HERE . Its a great setting and everything was wonderful. The menu choice is small, but that itls what you expect from a small... More
