The restaurant is on the site where once stood a Venetian building which was linked to the residence on the south side through a doorway. It is believed that where the covered dining area stands was once a large storeroom and animal stable. The dining courtyard was indeed a courtyard and animal feeding area. In 2003 the chef and owner Harris Pavlakis decided to open the restaurant. The restaurant serves traditional local and greek dishes with local products and provides a friendly and romantic atmosphere. Our restaurant is certificated for Cretan Cuisine from The Greek Academy Of Taste and has won 2 gold medals one in the 9th contest of Cretan Traditional Cooking and the other in the 6th contest of Cretan Traditional Cooking.

Lovely food

Be it on the terrace or inside (roof is partially open), the decor is very attractive. One does not feel crowded. Service is professional and attentive, no long waiting time. It is wise to reserve a table in the evening especially if one wants to be at the terrace. We shared the first course at our... read more

Rang up a few hours before and got a reservation in the garden. Would advise booking on the phone as it fills up and we saw others turned away. The girls serving were super-friendly and the good food was quock to roll out. We had the lamb in the ceramic pot which was amazing. The feta starter was OK, but... More

One of the true culinary gems. A friend of ours suggested this restaurant and we were not disappointed! We were quite lucky actually to get in without reservation and to have a nice cosy spot next to the well. The whole restaurant is tastefully decorated and have a great funky vibe. The food was simply outstanding, traditional recipes with the... More

I love this restaurant. I was recently in Rethymno for 2 weeks and I went twice. Both times we should have booked as it was so busy but they did manage to find a table as they are lovely people and very helpful. I love their vegetarian Moussaka but friends I go with have T-bone steak, omelette and the many... More

We went to To Pigadi based on some friends recommendation. Tucked away down one of the many cobbled alleyways To Pigadi is a dream We went with friends and were met by very attentive hosts. The tables are set in an old open courtyard and the menu was full of Traditional Creten fare Between us we had a Mezzi type... More

We came here for lunch and didn't know what to expect. The setting was very nice so I thought to myself "it's got to be good after this". the staff was very nice and talkative with us. We took our first bite of the appetizer and became speechless. It was amazing food. The food was kind of rushed but very... More

The Well actually has a little well in the courtyard, where we ate, and a leafy awning and generally lovely decor made for a very romantic lunch. The lamb stew featured the most lean and tender lamb I have every eaten; definitely a hot recommendation.

We sat in the little courtyard beside the The Well, it was lovely, the flowers kept falling on the tables from the plants above it wasn't an issue to us although some other people asked to be moved. Service was pleasant, even when the place became very busy the staff were still attentive. Food was well presented and very good.... More

This was the worst dining experience I have had in a very long time. I eat out frequently and am very well traveled. Salad and appetizers came out quickly and were of good quality. Then a bizarre experience unfolded. Entrees never came after 50minutes. I spoke politely to the waitress, she went to the kitchen and said that the chef... More

Having passed by the day before we booked immediately because we felt his was 'our' sort of place. Offered our choice of table ( don't think there would be bad one) So glad we did - it was full during our visit. Everything was excellent - the professional service, the ambience, the food. best Sea Bass this trip by a... More
