The restaurant is on the site where once stood a Venetian building which was linked to the residence on the south side through a doorway. It is believed that where the covered dining area stands was once a large storeroom and animal stable. The dining courtyard was indeed a courtyard and animal feeding area. In 2003 the chef and owner Harris Pavlakis decided to open the restaurant. The restaurant serves traditional local and greek dishes with local products and provides a friendly and romantic atmosphere. Our restaurant is certificated for Cretan Cuisine from The Greek Academy Of Taste and has won 2 gold medals one in the 9th contest of Cretan Traditional Cooking and the other in the 6th contest of Cretan Traditional Cooking.

LOVELY SETTING

We sat in the little courtyard beside the The Well, it was lovely, the flowers kept falling on the tables from the plants above it wasn't an issue to us although some other people asked to be moved. Service was pleasant, even when the place became very busy the staff were still attentive. Food was... read more

This was the worst dining experience I have had in a very long time. I eat out frequently and am very well traveled. Salad and appetizers came out quickly and were of good quality. Then a bizarre experience unfolded. Entrees never came after 50minutes. I spoke politely to the waitress, she went to the kitchen and said that the chef... More

Having passed by the day before we booked immediately because we felt his was 'our' sort of place. Offered our choice of table ( don't think there would be bad one) So glad we did - it was full during our visit. Everything was excellent - the professional service, the ambience, the food. best Sea Bass this trip by a... More

Without doubt the worst restaurant we have been to in our 10 day stay in Crete. The starters were ovecooked and cold. We requested a wait between starters and main course. The main course arrived at the requested time, but had clearly been left under a grill and whilst the plate was red hot the food was dried up! The... More

Having eaten in many restaurants during our 4 week trip in Greece, we feel that our visit To Pigardi was the best restaurant we have eaten in our travels. We sat outside in the pretty courtyard surrounded by the sounds of water from the well. The service was friendly, informative but not intrusive if you are having a romantic dinner for 2. Towns with no McDonald's are normally a good thing. In Rethymnon the standard of Restaurants is high to start with. When they have no-one hovering outside attempting to entice you in and most of the tables are reserved you quickly realise you have found a good one amongst good. This restaurant is the best in town as far as I... More

Rethymnon is no different from most Greek coastal towns: the restaurants on the waterfront are generally quite average and overpriced, whereas those in the backstreets offer better value and better food. We walked past this restaurant a couple of times and it always seemed busy so we thought we'd give it a go. It was a good decision. The staff... More
