The restaurant is on the site where once stood a Venetian building which was linked to the residence on the south side through a doorway. It is believed that where the covered dining area stands was once a large storeroom and animal stable. The dining courtyard was indeed a courtyard and animal feeding area. In 2003 the chef and owner Harris Pavlakis decided to open the restaurant. The restaurant serves traditional local and greek dishes with local products and provides a friendly and romantic atmosphere. Our restaurant is certificated for Cretan Cuisine from The Greek Academy Of Taste and has won 2 gold medals one in the 9th contest of Cretan Traditional Cooking and the other in the 6th contest of Cretan Traditional Cooking.

Superb

Starting from their garden and going to the quality and serving of their food, all was exceptional. Try it and you won't regret.

We were expecting much more from this restaurant. The night before we went to Alana where the atmosphere was tranquil and the setting gorgeous. To Pigardi had no charm for me. The red house wine was chilled so we ordered a bottle of Greek reserve red wine, also chilled "killing the nose". The food did not appear to be chef... More

Well into our trip to Greece that's included Athens, Mykonos and Santorini, we had the best dinner by far at To Pigada ('the well'). Regional dishes were served with a bit of a twist and beautifully presented. There's clearly a lot of care and skill in the kitchen to assure balanced seasoning and layers of flavour. However, this was in... More

We were very impressed by the interesting menu choices, the quality of the food and wine and the service from the knowledgeable staff, so much so that we made a second reservation. The four of us were unanimous in our praise.

This restaurant is very pretty inside and is off the busier streets which makes it a great place for a relaxed atmosphere. We went here for an early dinner and although quiet at that time of day, we had a lovely time. The two starters were lovely and there is quite a choice for food. We went with the lamb... More

This is a cosy restaurant with great food and great staff. Everything we tried was delicious and the house wine was also good. Well worth a visit.

Great variety on the menu, pretty interior (albeit touristy). First couple of appetisers were fabulous however our experience was tainted by the main dish, and the level of customer service when we expressed our concern that the meat tasted and smelt off. The wait staff didn't appreciate our concerns and continued to insist it was our taste buds rather than... More

My friend and i passed this nice looking little restaurant one evening, we looked at their menu and were determined to eat here. Exceptional food for very small prices! I had the stuffed chicken and my friend had the summer-seafood salad. She said it was the best salad she'd ever had, and my chicken was awesome as well! Wine was... More

During a 7night stay in the centre of Rethymnon last week of April we had the pleasure of dining at the Pigadi on three occasions. The food is very Cretan more to my wife's taste than mine but never the less I really enjoyed it. The overall atmosphere of the retaurant, the house dry white, amazing value at 3 Euros... More

Food is very good, and waitresses friendly. But if you do not like cats this is not the place for you, they wander around the tables looking for scraps. You do forget about them after a while, and the courtyard is very pretty.
