So happy we came across the restaurant roaming around. we waited about an hour until they opened for dinner. It was beyond worth it. Great and creative food, wonderful service, great value, a garden that was so welcoming, and designed so beautifully. don't miss miss it if you are in Rethymno.

We popped in on the off chance they had a spare table, we were early so once sat, the menu was explained it was a festive tasting menu at 35 euro a head, from the first starter we knew we were in for some amazing food. Each course was lovely and I was so stuffed couldn't finish dessert. House Wine... More

Given the number of diners and the past reviews on TripAdvisor, this is clearly a very popular restaurant, and we were not disappointed. We had a lovely meal (goat and lamb dishes for the main followed by a chocolate dessert) which felt authentically Cretan but at the same time fresh, modern and stylish. Portion sizes were sensible. Service was excellent... More

I am usually very picky grading restaurant but I have to say this one was a pure treasure to discover. Amazing delicious and tasty food, great professional staff, great wines to go with our dishes, great atmosphere. Our dinner here was the last one of great holidays and it was simply perfect! Absolutely loved it!!

We did the shorter tasting menu, with wine and we really enjoyed it! I'd recommend this place to anyone wanting to experience the modern version of the famed Cretan cuisine.

We were lured into going to this restaurant having seen the menu in passing and noticing it had some unusual dishes like goat. We managed to get a lovely table in their courtyard, and were excited about having a 'posh' dinner for a change whilst in Rethymnon. We were left decidedly underwhelmed i'm afraid to say. We shared the mushroom... More

Dear Mitzicat thank you for taking the time to write a review about your personal experience to Avli. We are delighted to read that you enjoy both the atmosphere and the service at our restaurant. Although we are extremely surprised of your husband's claims "about being served beef instead of goat", we appreciate for giving us opportunity to remove his... More

The courtyared you enter when you head for dinner at Avli looks enchanting and the whole setting is definitely the main attraction of this restaurant. On the other hand the food is really lacking character; I had one of the most boring chicken dishes ever...and this restaurant is pricey.

Dear CarribeanFreunde: Thank you for your nice comments about Avi's setting and the undisputed beauty of the place. We are displeased to read that we didn't achieve to meet your palate during your visit to our restaurant. Although we wonder which factor can make a fresh, well prepared, tasty, organic farming, chicken "boring", we understand that taste is totally a... More

After reading all of the reviews we thought Avli was a must destination on our visit to Rethymnon. Sadly we were disappointed. As my husband said the food was stodgy. My lamb was cold grey looking and tough. The Avli salad had few nuts on and was mostly leaves with little flavour. An expensive let down

Dear Kerrie P: We highly respect our valuable guests reviews although we believe that it's much more helpful to express their opinion directly to any of our staff or the manager or to me personally, as i'm daily present at the restaurant, so we could react fast and immediately. There is no other factor more important for us, than the... More

This restaurant has about 5 different areas to sit all with a different atmosphere. We chose the 2 level garden. We were welcomed by Draggen and he recommended the Goat which was a first for me but it was so succulent. All the dishes are Cretan. The restaurant is a little more up market than the rest od Rethymnon and... More
